Installing arch was a bust. I should have stuck with pop os. I'm installing that now.
Pop os, docker and jellyfin is installed.
I've got things mostly working
Not mostly, all the way working
VPN, radarr/servarr(mylarr is next) gluetun, immich, jellyfin. It's all running as expected.
Home Servarr is live! Fuck yeah. Finally. I always do things the hard way
Next step is to check out Usenet groups
Switched to mint mobile. Paid for the whole year. I cancelled Google Fi and should saving well over 200 dollars this year.
This is related to my overall self hosting degoogling
This is what really prompted me to make this happen. https://youtube.com/shorts/sZcB4pD8gW4?si=47dzxdwz1NGb_Xid
Leaders of major tech companies, including Apple, Google and OpenAI, praised President Donald Trump’s pro-business agenda at a White House dinner on Sept. 4. Subscribe to The Washington Post on YouTube: https://wapo.st/2QOdcqK

It's not just about Google. It's capitalism. It's meta, apple, and all these CEOs rimming trump throughout this dinner. We don't need them. We don't need Netflix or Amazon, Disney, etc
We don't even need discord. We could host our own chat server.
How is the server looking?
Solid. I think I need to get Usenet for it, but I currently have some good stuff streaming for the kids and they can watch on the TV or their tablets.
There's something called torrent indexers and the free and public ones kind of such. I heard Usenet will be better.
Tonight I'm doing a Minecraft server
Net bird is installed on my two machines and phone. Not I need to set up my domain name and ddns to update my ip
Awesome. I did something similar with with a laptop I had, it was awesome. Had a small crew running on the Minecraft server, was running Ubuntu Server and CasaOS. I miss that lol.
depending on how this server works out I might run one for this server. I'm running it on an i5 so I don't know if that's enough to run lots of people. i heard paperserver might be more efficient. I'm also trying to figure out if I want bedrock or java. my kiddo and I play on bedrock on android. I'm trying to get it working on my steamdeck, but it's a pain and i don't have the updated android apk for the latest minecraft release.
I wonder if a orange pi can handle jellyfin and other needs. That would be a cheaper option. If anyone needs help getting started reach out to me. Let's get the fuck off these capitalistic leeching services.
