hello, I am using Luckperms on my bungeecord server and have 2 paper server connected to it. I would like to set permissions on the Bungeecord server and that the same applies to the other paper servers. So I installed luckperms on all servers. in config.yml I have done behind server bungee on all servers, but unfortunately the permissions don't work. The bungee permissions work but the permissions of the plugins from paper do not. I don't have much experience with this so could I get a clear explanation of what I'm doing wrong? To synchronize you permissions throughout all your servers, meaning no matter where you add groups or permissions, they will be there everywhere, you will need to connect all your servers to a remote database, such as mysql.

I'm having an issue with LP Prefix showing up in VentureChat. I'm not sure if the problem is with my LP setup or a bug in Vault or LuckPerms.
When I use the PAPI command
/papi parse Nutmegan %vault_prefix%
it returns nothing
but if I use
/papi parse Nutmegan %vault_rank%
it returns my group name OWNER

Lets just say I want to give an admin on my server, permissions to set TEMP donator ranks, but i DONT want them to have permissions to set anything other than temp donator ranks
So i dont want them to be able to set temp Moderator ranks, or temp Owner ranks
Ah. So youd have to obviously create the rank you want them to be able to give temporarily, then youd have to give your admin(s) the permission to give only that rank, which the argumentbased permissions page explains how to do.
I'm not sure how the argumentbased permissions thing works with temp ranks though, it doesn't seem to explain it very well
I am though unsure if you can restrict the admin to give the rank only as temp, and not permanently, so lets say they forget to add a duration
I don't mind if they can set it permanatly, i just need to make sure they can only set those types of ranks

Well, im on phone so its quite hard to do that. Personally ive also never given any of my staff lp perms of any kind. Im too scared to do that lol. What id probably do is make a voucher instead that admins can get and give out, then players claim it to make sure the timer is right and the command itself gets executed as console, so in that case no perms for admins needed aside from grabbing the voucher lol

and we want them to be able to set temp ranks, but if we give them full temp perms they can set ALL temp ranks

I think I have a solution working, I gave them permission to promote players on the vip track with member at the lowest, and limited the promotion at vip

I've seen this behavior before on a spigot server, the issue might shock you: Unless you use essentialsx where the placeholder for the prefix and name of the player was combined into displayname, you most likely won't be able to use prefixes as name color setter. Prefixes are meant to include more than just a color code and besides that, coloring the chat itself has never been luckperms' job, but that is what chat plugins exist for.

Luckperms is not the plugin displaying prefixes. Luckperms will take any random letter and number combination as prefix.
If the prefix will show up with hex colors is up to your chat and or tablist plugin. So you need to find out if they support it and in what format

After switching from PaperMC to Purpur I am no longer able to assign multiple permission groups to people (although the server switch may be unrelated, haven't had time to try it on paper again).
I tried /lp user user_name parent add group_name but it doesn't add them to the new group, they only keep the group they already have. If I do /lp user user_name parent set group_name it works, but I need people to have multiple groups (this only replaces the group they already have with a new one). I also tried editing through the webui to add multiple groups to people and the output from LuckPerms says that it added the groups, but when I check they still only have the one group they already had.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

you can change the algorithm used for traversing the inheritance tree, but the default one is the one that works best and shows the most expected behavior, really, changing something like that is very.. iffy in a sense? like, you should really understand what you're doing if you're changing something as critical as that
