Has LuckPerms been exploited/hacked?

Most certainly: no. In most cases a 'LuckPerms exploit' is a simple case of human error, which can be avoided easily. Look below for some tips to be on the safe side.

Don't give random people full ( * ) permissions / admin permissions

While this should be obvious, a lot of times a exploit can be traced back to faulty permission settings. You should always take your time with permissions and read the plugin documentations. In 99% of all cases the plugins have documentations explaining each permission, in the rare case that the plugin you are using does not have a documentation, you could still:
A: Ask the plugin developer for help
B: Use LuckPerms verbose functionality ( !verbose )
C: Select a different plugin with proper documentation.

Do not run your server/network in offline mode

If you are running your server or network in offline mode, hackers have it really easy to steal your, or any other admins identity. While the server is in offline mode, certain checks ( which exist to prevent exactly this ), are being skipped, and the server does not verify if the person joining actually is the person they claim to be. While there may be plugins which increase the security of offline mode servers by adding things such as admin codes, you should just switch it to online to prevent the issue in the first place.

Do not download plugins from shady websites / sent by friends

You should never put anything on your server which has not been downloaded by yourself from official sources. Plugins can be infected with malware which injects itself into all other plugins, and thus is hard to remove. While it may look like a plugin has been hacked, you most certainly downloaded a modified version of it and it is not the plugin authors fault. In case your server has been infected by such malware:

1. Stop the server
2. Delete all plugins in your plugins folder, and just to be safe also the server jar file
3. Re-Download all plugins and server jar files from official websites such as SpigotMC or official plugin websites ( luckperms.net for example ).
4. Check if there have been any modifications to the permission system and remove unknown users and wrong permissions.
   if you follow these steps you should have a clean server by the end, without exploits.

Luckperms (extracontexts) x worldguard regional permissions are not working for me. I am on a spigot 1.20.1 server. I am trying to make a player get a certain permission when they enter a region. Once I defined the region using worldguard (/rg define) I used this command:
/lp group default permission set excellentshop.virtual.command.menu true worldguard=in-region=merchant
and/or:
/lp group default permission set excellentshop.virtual.command.menu true context=worldguard=in-region=merchant

Neither of these are working and in /lp verbose it doesn't show any change and the permission shows as "false" when the command is executed. No errors anywhere

LP will not randomly delete data without an explanation. For starters, what storage method are you using, and are you using anything that touches UUIDs i.e. Geyser/Floodgate, a Bungeecord/Velocity network, offline mode, or any offline mode authentication plugins?

For command blocks, you'll need to enable command selectors in the LP config. It's the last option iirc.

Seems just targeting the player with @p or @pl does not work even after going in config and setting resolve-command-selectors to true. Only targeting that works is directly typing a players username which as you can imagine is not ideal. I am using essentials but have also tried luckperms:lp style command as sometimes is required with essentials.

I've been facing a little problem for the last hour, basically I switched form lp to lpb, leaving only the lpb installed in the proxy but the variable %luckperms-prefix% its not working for me now since it doesn't show the prefix even if it's there, I don't know if this might help but, since I've uninstalled lp in the back-end server I've seen that the placeholder %vault_prefix% shows like that, instead of the prefix it shows %vault_prefix%, I do have the papi Vault and Luckperms installed... Most certainly: no. In most cases a 'LuckPerms exploit' is a simple case of human error, which can be avoided easily. Look below for some tips to be on the safe side.

Don't give random people full ( * ) permissions / admin permissions

While this should be obvious, a lot of times a exploit can be traced back to faulty permission settings. You should always take your time with permissions and read the plugin documentations. In 99% of all cases the plugins have documentations explaining each permission, in the rare case that the plugin you are using does not have a documentation, you could still:
A: Ask the plugin developer for help
B: Use LuckPerms verbose functionality ( !verbose )
C: Select a different plugin with proper documentation.

Do not run your server/network in offline mode

If you are running your server or network in offline mode, hackers have it really easy to steal your, or any other admins identity. While the server is in offline mode, certain checks ( which exist to prevent exactly this ), are being skipped, and the server does not verify if the person joining actually is the person they claim to be. While there may be plugins which increase the security of offline mode servers by adding things such as admin codes, you should just switch it to online to prevent the issue in the first place.

Do not download plugins from shady websites / sent by friends

You should never put anything on your server which has not been downloaded by yourself from official sources. Plugins can be infected with malware which injects itself into all other plugins, and thus is hard to remove. While it may look like a plugin has been hacked, you most certainly downloaded a modified version of it and it is not the plugin authors fault. In case your server has been infected by such malware:

1. Stop the server
2. Delete all plugins in your plugins folder, and just to be safe also the server jar file
3. Re-Download all plugins and server jar files from official websites such as SpigotMC or official plugin websites ( luckperms.net for example ).
4. Check if there have been any modifications to the permission system and remove unknown users and wrong permissions.
   if you follow these steps you should have a clean server by the end, without exploits.

I run a fabric modded server and we use luckperms for staff perms and also for players to have titles to show there accomplishments, Im wanting to introduce some new titles that are smaller things like "banker" for people with large ammounts of money or "knights" for people with high tier gear. Does anyone know of a mod that would be able to do things like this? something able to run commands for luck perms to change groups etc

1. Check if EssentialsX chat is handling prefixes: If you are using EssentialsXChat, make sure that only one plugin is managing chat formatting. In Essentials' config file (config.yml), look for the section:

   If the prefix is already included, LuckPerms might also be adding the prefix, leading to the duplication.

Hi, is there anyone here with experience using the Minecraft plugins "LuckPerms" and "Multiverse Core [Portals]"?

I removed the permission for the "Guest" role to enter portals using the following command: /lp group guest permission set multiverse.portal.access.* false and assigned my test account the Guest role. Despite this, the test account can still go through the Multiverse Core portals. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Is there any other permission of multiverse Portals i need to block for the group?

I use the LuckPerms plugin for my server.
The idea is that a player with the group “sheriff” could change the groups of those players with group = [“police”, “bandit”, “default”], but players with group = [admin,moderator] can not.
How can this be realized?

Maybe a better way woould be to use groups instead? Use something like /lp bulkupdate users update permission group.can-fly "permission == essentials.fly", that will change the existing essentials.fly perm into a group membership of a 'can-fly' group

Then you can add whatever perms you want to the can-fly group e.g. lp creategroup can-fly lp group can-fly permission set essentials.fly server=survival

The users will be a member of that group in every server, but the group only has fly permission in certain servers

Yes and no, if you look at the start of the paste you sent me you'll see that the first (of 9) time that the command was ran, LP did successfully perform the track promotion. The other 8 times failed because you apparently only have the one group on the track, and thus you were at the end of it.

Mojang in their infinite wisdom made the gamemode switcher rely on a clientside op level check, so you'll need to install something like F3NPerm to spoof the op level sent to clients if you want non-opped players to be able to use it

I basically am using essential crates and want the server to run a /crate key give (PATREON ROLE) PatreonKey 1

but I don't understand how to tell the server to give it to people of the Patreon role

That's not something the server itself or LP can do. The server itself has no concept of groups, and a command like that is out of scope for LP. My first suggestion would be to consult the documentation of your crates plugin or talk to their support. That's a pretty common type of thing to do, the plugin probably has some way of handling it.

Also having another issue.

Basically I have 3 roles. Patreon, Patreon + and Creator.
I want to display Creator with either Patreon Or Patreon +

Patreon + / Patreon cannot be shown in the same time (I have a discord plugin)

For some reason. Patreon & Creator do what I want.
but Patreon+ & Creator don't mix well. But Patreon + & Patreon do.
