Two things:
1.) Try to stay away from 'parent set' because when not using inheritance, this can become an issue where players loose permissions for the basic things from the default group. 'set' deletes any other group from the player, so be aware what the difference is.
2.) make sure you are using the correct placeholder for the player, in citizens, i believe it is <p> (yes, the <> included). If you use another npc plugin, go to it's wiki and see what placeholder it asks to use for the player.
The command you listed above is technically correct, just the player placeholder is questionable.

As for me, we will see. I have a rather small frustration tolerance. This is why i stopped learning last time and the time before when i peeked into java. I got overwhelmed way too fast. My knowledge went as far as knowing a boolean, and then hearing 'public static void' your face just goes 'wtf is this? Nope'. What i needed and still need is a page or video, anything that explains those super basic things to me without using even more confusing words i never heard in combination before. Many things do not make sense whatsoever. Not one bit xD

I once had a little like 5 day internship for school at a small company, who are partnered up with SAP and sort of connect different ERP systems.
I was assigned to a trainee who worked there for around 2 years. He was assigned a task at the end of their sprint, which was: translate the shop and (parts) of the admin/user interface from German to English, so they can target a larger market.
They used PHP for their web app, with the framework Symfony. I didn't even know that existed; of course I have worked with PHP previously, but not very much (more like one form to insert a string into a database) and also not with a framework.
One of the things he got confused by multiple times was inserting variables into strings, which you can do with {{ 'trans.key'|trans({'%variable%': 'Some value'}) }}. And I was just standing there next to him and like: It is literally in the docs.
Another thing was when we tried to fix a bug in which some SQL statements were not executed. I introduced him to RegEx there (suprised he didn't know about that), so we could transform the statement to something programmatic. There our error was that the created objects were not added to the db. I looked it up on stackoverflow of course, and we just flushed the parent object, not the childs. Then I told him like "some dude on stackoverflow says we should also flush the children" and he responds like "nah, parent also flushes child, but we can try". The dude on stackoverflow got it right...
Nothing against the trainee, but it showed me I can atleast solve a little bit of problems actually occuring in like real work tasks, for which you get paid.

JetBrains academy has pages of theory and different projects with different levels of difficulty. The projects make you complete excercises to build up the skills needed for the projects. For example on of the projects is simply taking in Args and responding accordingly

im bashing my head against a brick wall. I have two physical machines and they host an array of servers, i host my Database on the most powerful machine. obviously. And i have installed a simple jail server. whenever i start it it crashed minecraft daemon Database. (Multicraft) on the database hosting side. When i removed luckperms it worked so i tried again from scratch adding each plugin and when i configure luckperms to connect to the database it crashes the daemon and my servers on that database machine. what is going on?

ok pulled up the default LP config, it defaults to always having 10 connections to the DB per instance

yer the database was limited to 151 connections. i increased it to 500 now i need to increase the amount of ram i allow it. changing the MAX Global Connections has sorted the inital issue but the timings as noted by evident is not something i often see. but it needs addressing, it shouldnt be an issue it is on a 10gb home netowrk its probably just the ram given to each connection buffer i'll fix that now. Heres me always looking for a complex answer to a simple solution, thanks guys

It’s something to do with SSL. The Server is running HAProxy, and it’s proxied behind cloudflare.
I’ll see if I can find the exact error from when we were setting it up.

It was attempting to connect through a proxied connection, and I guess cloudflare was stripping the headers
