Unless you gave the perms to default, new players won’t have them.

So, if your group vip has a weight of 10 any perms in it, will override settings from the group below it, as long as the weight is a lower number

I think a good example is prefix weights. Imagine you have 2 groups. Admin and some player rank, lets call it carrot. Now each of them has their own prefix. Imagine a player is both admin and has a playerrank based on your system setup. Which prefix will show if you use the simple %luckperms_prefix% placeholder? ;)

Looks good to me, make sure you've got group weights and prefix/suffix weights set up properly
For groups, easiest way to set/change them is with the group setweight command
For prefix/suffix weight, the web editor is very convenient IMO, you just edit the number
