Yes, this is the intended behavior. The "displayname" feature is only intended to override the group name - despite it's rather confusing label, the displayname is not intended to contain any formatting. Use prefixes/suffixes/other meta for that

No. deleting the folder will delete the saved player data & configurations. Just delete and replace every .jar and restart your server. It will automatically update the folders to fit the new version of the plugin

Small list of things for you to make sure when testing permissions:
1. Don't test as op, your players/general staff will most likely not have op
2. Make sure you don't have any special permissions (e.g. * or the same permission you are testing) on your user (/lp user <user> permission info)
3. Make sure your parent groups are the ones the target audience you are testing will have (if you are testing mod perms, don't have owner as parent)
4. Use verbose to see exactly what's going on, what permissions are being checked

LuckPerms only acts as the source for prefixes / suffixes, it doesn't actually apply them. You need an appropriately configured chat/tablist formatting plugin for them to be displayed. If the values appear correctly when you run /lp user <user> info, LuckPerms is doing its job!

I have a problem with LuckPerms. I have this setup:

• a vip parent, that is set to the context italia
• a donator parent, that has the prefix with weight 30 (highest as of now), it also has a permission x set to true, both in context global and hub tried
• the vip parent inherits from this donator parent in context hub or global, tried both
• the issue is that the prefix doesn't show up on tab (Neznamy's plugin) but if i do user meta info, i can see the prefix
• when i try to do permission check it says that he has the permission inherited but result and cause are undefined and none
• so we have 3 context (2 if we exclude global): hub, italia
• my guess is that italia and hub don't acknowledge global or viceversa

As samosa said, discord role sync is out of scope for LP. The amount of extra systems and configuration and live state maintained (running a discord bot) far exceeds what's logical to include in LP directly.
This is particularly applicable to discord role sync as plenty of existing plugins/mods already solve this.

I'm aware, that's what I was saying. Maintaining the live state of a Discord bot is complicated enough on a single server, and state management gets infinitely more complicated when you switch to a network setup.

DiscordSRV is a project basically dedicated to this and they've still spent the better part of a decade trying to properly support networks.

Yeah like I said, just the simple "what instructions would you need to give a human to handle the task" part is incredibly easy for discord role sync, but when you get down in the weeds, there's so many finer points for i.e. where and how to run the discord bot, how should it be configured, and most notably how should the many edge cases be handled.

These are all solvable problems, but require a significant amount of time and effort, and thus ultimately doesn't make sense to be included in LP itself; again especially considering there's already third party projects which do a good job of handling this.

Oh also anything touching Discord automatically gets significantly more annoying from a maintenance perspective, since while LP generally won't break on it's own & luck can take care to make any changes to the web side be backwards-compatible, Discord doesn't care and will happily break stuff as they desire, to say nothing of the annoyingly-frequent API outages. We have enough support burden with our own stuff without adding in a third party that we have zero control over.

But regardless, you're missing the point that this is fundamentally out of scope for what makes sense to be in LP itself. Role sync is absolutely possible in LP itself, but it simply does not make sense. The other points are just additional factors that add the final nails in the coffin

(one other reason against the paywall idea, I'm pretty confident Luck already makes enough through their Patreon to cover the LP infrastructure)

How-to test permissions

Small list of things for you to make sure when testing permissions:
1. Don't test as op, your players/general staff will most likely not have op
2. Make sure you don't have any special permissions (e.g. * or the same permission you are testing) on your user (/lp user <user> permission info)
3. Make sure your parent groups are the ones the target audience you are testing will have (if you are testing mod perms, don't have owner as parent)
4. Use verbose to see exactly what's going on, what permissions are being checked

I assigned a command to a title in my server with LuckPerms. the command is included in a Plugin called Superheroes.
I'm trying to run /hero select command for a HERO title. I have the permissions assigned in LuckPerms. I deleted and remade the title but nothing works.
I assigned /hero reroll command to a VIP rank that's one rank lower than HERO rank and its parent is Default and the assigned command permission works for the VIP rank.
they can use the /hero reroll command but not the command that's only accessible by the HERO rank.

i just came to tell that luckperms has had an amazing upgrade with the web editor. My previous experience with luckperms was not so good because i had to run like 10 commands (Because i read the wrong website or something) to allow one command. This has changed since the web-editor. For the people working at luckperms my compliments, actually this has made it so easy.
