LP will just treat meta as a simple string (or an int if you configure it to return the highest value for a specific key in the actual config), what you do with that string is entirely up to whatever retrieves it

The main thing to note is LP has a fixed character limit for all permission nodes, it's either 200 or 250 (can't remember); and like everything else, meta is stored as permission nodes in the format meta.<key>.<value>, so it wouldn't take a very large array to run out of characters

Once you understand how the permission system works, the mechanics of working LP isn't super hard - it's just memorizing commands mostly. The big learning curve is understanding how the permission system works, and the concepts that it has.

(Though I will acknowledge that some of the more niche features of LP can be difficult to learn and are in some cases undocumented i.e. the general advice with arg-based permissions being "just use verbose")

So essentially, the lp promote command, lp user user promote rankname doesn't work usually with attributes like @s, @a, etc. (There is a config option to enable this ofc.) however it still doesn't like to play nice with mods that can execute commands, such as customNPCs or FTBQuests, mainly because the lp commands require you to be operator to execute. Even if you can assign these commands to a rank to be able to execute, like lets say you wanted Moderators to, there's no way to assign said rank to a mod attempting to execute the command.

Some mods can instead execute commands as a higher priveledge, like with thats available in FTBQuests, however it does not give the ability to execute as console, which means the command will not work.

So, Melius Commands (I'm guessing the whole reason why they made me move it here? instead?)

So you want players to be able to meet certain criteria, then be ranked up along a track for it? Create the ranks and tracks in LP, then re-route the lp user user promote rankname command to a seperate command using Melius Commands mod. You can then set those Psuedo commands to execute as console, so they can technically be executed by anyone as if they are operator.
But thats a dumb idea, so then use that command and Luck Perms to block access to the Psuedo from players so they can't just infinitely rank up, and only use the command through FTBQuests as a quest reward that you can then edit to either be silent, auto, etc. and can be based on any criterium that FTBQuests allows
