there are tons of people running servers in online mode with decent player counts.
Offline mode servers are easy player counts though. We don’t support piracy, and majority of other large support servers don’t either because A. It’s annoying when it’s not “properly” configured, and B… it’s theft.

not sure if I should ask here but it's not really a Luckperms issue, is there technical documentation on how the panel used to work internally back when it used the apply command? I want to do a similar thing for an unrelated project

the apply edits command (that still exists, and is used when a socket connection cant be made for whatever reason) just uploads the edits to bytebin and the server reads those
also the wiki is a git repo

yeah when you hit save in the editor it saves a JSON of the changes in bytebin, then the applyedits reads that JSON and the changes (added/removed groups/nodes, , or something)

Adding on, LPW is specifically designed in such a way that a dedicated backend is not required. Bytebin and Bytesocks (the 2 services that power it) are both generic, LP just makes use of them (Bytebin powers a bunch of other things, Bytesocks also powers the live spark profilers)

Nah it's just more convenient for users. The old method with /lp applyedits is also still there as a fallback if the user doesn't trust the session
(Hell I think the only communication that happens over bytesocks is just sending the bytebin key to apply edits from)
