Is there a way to have a group of roles that is changeable without hierarchy? My goal is to have colored names choose-able via the prefix system. However, the only way I can come up with to implement is through the track system, which would require multiple promotions to get to color x instead of just going to it straight away. Hopefully that makes sense

This may not be doable and if not that is ok

Maybe I should use Meta instead?

the admin group has minecraft.command.* set to true and the same permission is not declared in default
The problem is that if i have a user which is in both default and admin groups, they are denied access to /gamemode c
but when i remove them from the default group, they can use /gamemode c

So I am in the process of switching server hosts, and I transferred all my files, but for some reason Luckperms is glitching out. It does not recognize any of the already saved player names/uuids, and when one of those players joins the server, it generates a new fresh uuid with none of the players' permissions saved. So you get 2 of the same usernames in the editor

How would I go about not letting a parent permission continue up the parent ranks. For example if I had example.permission in the permission list with my base default group with a bunch of other permissions. I still want to use group.default as the parent for the next group I make that way I don't have to type in all the permissions individually, however I don't want the example.permission to come into the new group.

LuckPerms only acts as the source for prefixes / suffixes, it doesn't actually apply them. You need an appropriately configured chat/tablist formatting plugin for them to be displayed. If the values appear correctly when you run /lp user <user> info, LuckPerms is doing its job!

1. Sponge disables op if LP is installed so opping is the same as watching paint dry

hm well, I suggest you do the following:

1. Run /lp export <file name>, can be any file name (data, perms, backup, whatever), it's a backup/export after all

2. Stop the server and uuh for now I'll keep it simple: change the table-prefix setting in LP config to something different than the current value: LP will generate new tables on the database so will essentially be a "new setup" (the current tables will still be there though)

3.1. Start the server and run /lp import <file name> (the same file name as the exported one)
3.2. Check the console for any errors while importing

Hi! I'm attempting to transfer one MySQL database from an old host to a new one, as it holds the player permissions. I'm not able to access the database using commands (they don't work, reinstalling them doesn't work either unfortunately), but I am able to access the File System using SSH as well as VNC.

Now my question is this: where can I hopefully locate the database that saves these player permissions? I've inherited the server so I am not familiar with how the server was set up, but I would assume that they used the default ways.

/etc/mysql/ takes me to this, but there is no database: (see attached image).

Hi, I came here a couple days ago to report the same issue but realized I was using an outdated version so I updated and it appeared to last 2 days before breaking, it happens on restart (but can be "fixed" by replacing the jar) and this error inhibits many plugins from loading so I gues its just unlucky luckperms is the first plugin enabled, Ive looked on google for any similar error like this but nothing- is this at all luckperms related or just some kind of middle software?

LuckPerms does not perform any chat/tablist formatting of its own!

LuckPerms only acts as the source for prefixes / suffixes, it doesn't actually apply them. You need an appropriately configured chat/tablist formatting plugin for them to be displayed. If the values appear correctly when you run /lp user <user> info, LuckPerms is doing its job!

Hello, there is a serious YAML storage issue going on where player's permissions and now ranks appear to be resetting, disappearing or going back to default

On our server, LuckPerms just crapped itself and everyone typing in chat had plain/non-formatted text.

A few players died due to lack of permissions such as fly

I don't want to revert to using mysql because I prefer editing yaml files.

Were there any errors? If not, not much we can do apart from suggesting restoring the data from a backup, if you don't have a backup well... nothing we can do. It's better to just use the default h2 database and use the commands and the amazing web-editor to edit the permissions etc..

There were no errors from what I could see in console, it was just suddenly that permissions just dropped

I restarted and everything was back to normal, the yaml files were still there. But this isn't the first LuckPerms issue I have come across
