It is no secret that Daedric Princes are as dangerous as they are powerful. They wreak destruction, craft devious plots, sow madness and cause untold deaths across Tamriel. And yet, many mortals still turn to worship them...

What reasons can you think of to worship Sheogorath, the Mad-God, Comforter of Men, Lord of the Never-There and the Daedric Prince of Madness and Creativity?

Worshipping Sheogorath is already a sign of madness.

But respecting that he exists to test mortal resolve, as the Dunmer believe, is prudent all the same.

His trickery and cruelty go hand in hand. Whimsical laughter and unrelenting torment intertwined.

To want to worship him is surely a sign of madness, but I imagine you're in good company. If nothing else im sure it will be funny.

That or you're one of the Golden Saints or Dark Seducers, who do revere him (the ones that are in service to him at least, since he seems to scarcely utilise the Dremora other princes do)

In order to actually willingly be worshipping sheogorath you're already most likely on the path to insanity

No

I was thinking of that one scene in crucible in oblivion where you literally can push a depressed man off a tall ledge

Also the Jokers "philosophy" is stupid (and also not a philosophy) and the media in which that quote originates from also proves him wrong in the story I think

#

I actually hate the idea of the Joker who rationalizes his actions, because madmen are not rational

#

Madmen do not behave with the same rationality that one has when mulling over the weekly shopping

One of the perks of being madmen is not just irrationality, but they will often think outside the box if their brain functions adequately (hence Dyus cannot predict the what will happen with the Isles after Jyggalag is released)..

Thus the "Mad Professor" stereotype.

Problem is, not all Men of Clever Craft who wants to talk with him can resist the Mad Temptation of Sheo, as all of his worshipper and admirers will have some level of madness with them.

Those who can at least make themselves mentally functional will often get inspirations and motivations not expected.

Were i an artist or a toyman I’d definitely pray to sheogorath in hopes he’d grant me a spark of creativity

For me, the thing about Sheo's sphere is that mortals probably will not feel or even understand its effect until it's way too late, not like other Princes who can go physical (like Boethiah and Dagon) or sensible magic influence (like Azura, Nocturnal, and Vaermina). Kinda like Sanguine, but our dear Sam Guenne can still be sensed in his sphere of influence.

Honestly I just love this book in particular, and its opening line especially

For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting.
