Those born on Nirn are born under certain birthsigns. It's just become Sun's Dusk (November), so it is the season of the Atronach right now.

This one senses a heart of stone. Or is it ice? Ah, it is the Atronach that guides you. Sturdy, adaptable. Your sign grants you a steady arm and a nimble mind. You can be fire, stone, or ice. Adapt, but remain true to yourself.

The Atronach is associated with resilience and adaptability. What TES characters do you feel embody this birthsign, and why?

Unironically the vendor that appears in certain hours of the day in Dragonborn
The one that sells you the Glass Bow of the Stag

Oh thats an interesting one.

My first answer off the bat was Isran, to be honest. But im unsure if I can fully describe why

buoyant copper
#

Isran is adaptable as hell

Some additional quotes to consider:

"Today the Atronach shall aid you with your appointed burden."

The Atronach
The Atronach (often called the Golem) is one of the Mage's Charges. Its season is Sun's Dusk. Those born under this sign are natural sorcerers with deep reserves of magicka, but they cannot generate magicka of their own.

Without him, the Dawnguard wouldn't have reformed so quickly

supple delta
#

I'm thinking Madanach. He's remained stubborn despite imprisonment and has repeatedly changed his tactics, methods, and attitude as befitting his situation

supple delta
#

You keep doing that

buoyant copper
#

Madanach did potentially escape from prison

#

With some help

supple delta
#

And adapted again to be aggressive AF in the process

#

I think it's hard to adapt to the main character deciding today is your day to die so I can't hold him potentially dying to us against him

#

Same w Isran

cyan raven
#

I usually betray madanach tbh, yes what happened to the reachfolk in general has been cruel and awful, but I dont think madanach being free would solve anything.

I hate to side with settler colonialists but the Nords have staked their claim a thousand times over and a thousand times their claim has succeeded.

Plus if Madanach hadnt signed off on killing the woman at the market (she is an imperial agent but lets be honest, thats hardly the worst thing to visit markarth) I wouldnt have been stuck in a prison-mine.

That said, this entire situation was still the Silver-Bloods fault, so really I kinda want them held to account above all else

crisp glen
#

Guess this birthsign would be really good kind of personality for a successful Bard.

Adapting to the local culture and partaking in its traditions, while remaining an impartial Bard in the heart

supple delta
#

Nah the Forsworn are kinda fucked imo. Like I sympathize and everything but they seem a bit indiscriminate

#

Ironically a Forsworn puts why I'm kinda iffy on them best

buoyant copper
#

I'm sympathetic towards Reachmen
Forsworn have sort of dug their own graves

crisp glen
#

Normal Reachmen literally just live with the Nords

supple delta
#

"You want to know who the Forsworn are? We are the people who must pillage our own land. Burn our own ground. We are the scourge of the Nords. The axe that falls in the dark. The scream before the gods claim your soul. We are the true sons and daughters of the Reach. The spirits and hags have lived here from the beginning, and they are on our side. Go back. Go back and tell your Empire that we will have our own kingdom again. And on that day, we will be the ones burying your dead in a land that is no longer yours."

#

I kinda get why but they're very hostile to their own people and it throws me a little

buoyant copper
#

oh speaking of atronach, here come maple

True

This one might come out of left field for y'all, but Pelinal.
We already know that Alessia was associated with the Thief, and Morihaus with the Lord. That leaves only the Mage unaccounted for in the trifecta, and considering Pelinal's nature as a construct practically synonymous with his armor and existing for the sole reason of protecting Mankind, the Atronach makes the most sense.

Plus the whole

Bloodroot Forge shit

And Falkreath

#

And like

#

Everything they do in ESO-

I really like that one and did not even consider it remotely

cyan raven
silk ice
#

I mean ey, this was the guy who 1v1'd the strongest sorcerer-kings of his era

silk ice
#

Gotta be adaptable for that

#

But moreso leaning into the idea of him being the Golem

Even tho it's never actually mentioned, it's just like, anti mage tank is on point

supple delta
cyan raven
#

"I dont believe in magic, why the fuck would your little spells hurt me?" 30000% magic resist

supple delta
#

Literally a construct like an Atronach is

silk ice
#

Consider that in Song of Pelinal, his first appearance is straight up unfolding out of a gem like a fucking Steven Universe character

[And then] Kyne granted Perrif another symbol, a diamond soaked red with the blood of elves, [whose] facets could [un-sector and form] into a man whose every angle could cut her jailers and a name: PELIN-EL [which is] "The Star-Made Knight" [and he] was arrayed in armor [from the future time]

#

Massive Atronach vibes

supple delta
#

I see it

cyan raven
#

Understandable

buoyant copper
#

I can see it

#

Pelinal my mischaracterized beloved

#

I mean my cyborg elfhating sigma knight

silk ice
#

Plus MK's comments about how Pelinal's existence basically owes itself to the purpose of protecting Man, and the original idea for the mythological Golem from Jewish folklore is an animated construct made to protect its people, and associated with war and hope as well as despair.

I might not be very knowledgable about ESO lore, but adapting to any situation thrown at hand does sound a lot like Abnur Tharn Maiqthonk

That might even be the sign of almost every significant Imperial Battlemage

#

Excessive Sarcasm is just a decent way to conceal your true personality

cyan raven
#

If only the rest of the Tharns could even come close to Abnur's nobility

I think The Forgemaster was definitely born under the Atronach sign.

Okay, honestly, Atronach is a goofy stone.

Resilience and Adaptibility are the natural traits of the Imperials.
So when i think of Atronach Birthsign kind of people, its mostly the prominent Imperials.

#

I was thinking of certain mages because, well, considering of Atronach's in-game quirk (not recovering magicka naturally through resting) as well as its traits being resilience and Adaptability.

# silk ice Not Thief or Shadow? How do you think?

I was thoroughly impressed by him throughout the thieves guild questline. He always seemed one step ahead of us, to me it felt like he adapted to every situation he was in. Making us walk into the trap first, unlocking tomb doors using the only tool that possibly could beyond the actual keys belonging to the doors, both of these also speaking to a nimble mind. If i remember correctly, hes also a spellsword, so he has a grasp of both melee and magic, which again speaks to adaptability in a distant sense. He has an uncompromising personality, not faltering or yielding at all to reach his goal. speaks to resilience.

ofc if we compare other birthstrones like the ones u mentioned im sure theres traits there that might suit him better hehe, but speaking isolated to this one i think he embodies these traits of the atronach rather well

silk ice
pulsar grove
#

doesnt he cast an aggression spell on brynjolf at the start?

#

seems it was the agent of subterfuge power actually

silk ice
#

His sword drains health innately tho

pulsar grove
#

his swor-

#

thin heart
#

Oh fuck I never noticed that he used the nightingale powers like that

silk ice
#

It could be fun if we could map the original Nightingale trinity onto the abilities, because they do seem to rather cleanly represent warrior mage thief archetypes

#

Full moon is health drain and warrior, half moon is charm and mage, new moon is stealth and thief iirc

pulsar grove
#

regardless, removing that point, i still prefer my own view. i dont know what the full shadow is, but i still find his personality uncompromising, hence resilience, i find him adaptable and of nimble mind for aforementioned reasons. these reasons feel more compelling to me, evne though theyre mostly rooted in my own interpretation of things

silk ice
#

If the positions are identical to those during the Nocturnal ceremony, that'd make Brynjolf the warrior and Karliah the mage, leaving LDB as the thief

#

The real question is whether Mercer was warrior or thief

#

Or actually

#

Hm

#

Okay yeah I misremembered

#

The half-moon is the agent of stealth and therefore the thief here

#

Acting as mediator

#

So Mercer would either be the agent of strife (harm) or agent of subterfuge (charm)

#

Which now that I think about it map rather well onto the charges of the Thief

#

Tower for strife, Shadow for stealth, Lover for subterfuge

Talking of faction characters, have we mentioned any CoW characters? Arcano seems like a good candidate.

The Mage
The Mage is a Guardian Constellation whose Season is Rain's Hand when magicka was first used by men. His Charges are the Apprentice, the Golem, and the Ritual. Those born under the Mage have more magicka and talent for all kinds of spellcasting, but are often arrogant and absent-minded.

crisp glen
#

I think Aryon fits that Atronach philosophy the best. Open-minded and not afraid of a change, contrary to all the other Telvanni council members.
