I did have that problem before. I solved it by trying out different versions of Proton. If you go into properties/compatibility, there should be a "force the use of a specific compatibility tool" and you can try between experimental, hotfix, and older versions

Proton is already installed with steam and is used automatically. ProtonDB is an unofficial database for Proton game compatibility

Another thing I tried was deleting the proton prefix. If you go into steam/steamapps/compatdata, there will be a bunch of folders with numbers. Those are steam ids. You can go into steamDB to find which one is Ultrakill. Delete that folder and try again

Custom death screens and IntroSkip add what they say. Cybergrind music explorer improves the cg music player and lets you play stuff from YouTube. ExitDoorManager (more self-shill I'm sorry) lets you change the destinations of level exit doors (+ optional randomization)
