The point is FAITH was never meant to be exclusively a "God is good" pro-Christianity game nor a criticism of religion. Just a scary game set during a weird time

Because I’m not old enough to have Atari graphics nostalgia. I remember NES games, sure but something about Faith and it’s designs genuinely stick to me. I’ve seen many pixel horror games and I’ve liked many for their novelty (and some@not so much because they weren’t that good), but this is the only series that actually scares me. I grew up with Resident Evil, FEAR, Area 51, Dead Space, and watched tons of game@play of many many other horror games. Why does this series stick to me so much and scares me?

I can somewhat relate to that. Never grew up watching the exorcism movies that boomed a few decades ago but Faith really captures the vibe. I think there's something ominous about old-school computers in general because as Joseph Campbell said, computers are like Old Testament gods; lots of rules and no mercy. When there's no cute CSS interface and the machine underneath is a bit more apparent, that inhuman aspect shines through better than in a "pretty" game I think
