Tbh I haven’t used it in years so I can’t vouch for that. But i don’t recall it being hard to make things for, and especially for a beginner you’re not really going to be using big flashy features anyway. Also depends which version of GM you use. But there’s heaps of resources out there for it including hundreds of tutorials as far I remember

Its strange. Nintendo normally censors overtly religious content

They even changed the cross in the American release of castlevania 3 so that it didn't glisten

Funny thing is that in Japan games were filled with religious iconography. Nintendo put a strict censorship code on all of that when it came overseas as they didn’t want to offend a number of different groups or anyone who decided they didn’t like it. It was a sensible move at the time IMO it’s just funny as a lot of these games used Christian iconography in an overwhelmingly Buddhist/Shinto/agnostic society. Only a very very tiny percentage of Japan is/was Christian and thus they realized some of what was being used might be possibly used in an inappropriate sense as this was mostly inspired by western media that came in anyway, such as horror movies which ironically carry a lot of religious themes (which themselves are often incorrect for the sake of plot). You know, like vampire stuff.

I think Link’s shield was a cross because it’s based off a crusader shield. The magic book was originally a Bible.

Christianity is rather foreign so to speak in Japan, and is highly fascinating from an aesthetic point of view. That's why there's stuff like Evangelion that's absolutely loaded with iconography but none of it means anything lmao

the Demogorgon fight in Beyond Forbidden Forest is rather epic, Demogorgon appears from a hole, you cannot move into the background or else you will die and you must be pixel perfect in aiming at his heart, which then the whole game cept you explodes in bloody gibs represented by random red words and then the sun appears

Once ya reach him, you have a limited time to kill him by shooting at his nose. The kicker here is that he moves around in shadows, the lightning appears more frequently if you are running out of time, you can also learn that he moved by looking at the graphical changes

The box art reminded me of The Legend of Zelda. That being said, Zelda originally had christian iconography. When I was small I thought the game was so creepy.

Yes, I based myself on the 1st cover of Zelda on NES Golden Version, because I already played the 1st game on emulator and was already interested on the 1st zelda game on NES, it had a slight middle-aged european inspiration, just the shield in the 1st zelda, it had a Cross

so it seemed a bit logical to draw a parallel with these games

and just to have found the first cover of the game in its original version and see that red cross in his shield. I was really lucky to place a well hidden reference

There’s iconography of many different beliefs present within the first Zelda game. One of the most infamous is the dungeon in the shape of a Hindu Swastika

yeah sure, they really looked for all the possible inspirations to make their fantasy game, it's still a pretty complicated game for me to play. but i recognize that it's still a good game.

And when I did the fan art, I thought it was very interesting to use the iconography of the gold cover because I knew people would recognize it straight away.

And by putting the famous big red cross of Faith, I thought it made more sense and was much more minimalist than putting anything on another fanart I had seen here and was very motivated to do it after seeing it

Personally, as I love to parody, I could have put a one-liner of this style, but I wanted to stay with the best one-liner of faith to avoid misunderstanding and be more direct

normally, chapter III is still in demo.

The 1st one is already complete, the 2nd one is complete too, but still in demo on Steam, same for the 3rd one.

In fact, it's a bit of a mix, because even the demos are small games in their own right and have nothing to do with the full games.

Also, in The Link to the Past originally Catholicism was going to be canon to the game. The Sanctuary was a church. Also, here is a picture that was part of the original collection of sketches for ideas for the game.

Well there was a cross in the second Zelda game as an item aside from being on the shield. It let you see ghosts.
