I feel like a lot of people use Michael in relation to this fan base as a true force of chaos in his nature. Michael is a child, there fore one can reasonably insert more childish traits to him. He also screams obscenities at you, seems to have a sense of tracking you, but is most likely not capable of extreme high intelligence.

You walk into that old rotting house that sits in the forest where the trees have grown up in it’s dirt and gravel drive way. That white... thing in the woods has you exhausted, you either ran when you heard it and when running wasn’t enough you repelled it with the little golden crucifix. I just woke up from a nightmare where I was playing the first Faith game and was scared of Michael. I was so scared of Michael I shut the game off but could still hear him. The thought of him scared me so bad it was like he was trying to escape out of the computer. Then I realized it was just a game, and even if Michael tried to come out and wriggle around my room trying to kill me, he’s honestly low key easy to kill in a house full of guns. Then it stopped.

I was left contemplating about the third game and wondering what was going to scare me forever in that game. ... I then complained and bragged at the same time to Airdorf in a formal letter to him along the lines of “You’re damn good at making me terrified of colored pixels. You’re so talented that I know I’m going to end up playing or watching the new game when it comes out because I need to know what crazy things happen. I’m going to regret it because it’s going to scare the shit out of me, too, but it’s so good I have to brave that.”

They performed ritual on her but something just didn't work, maybe she wasn't strong enough, maybe they found somebody else who's better for that. They just left Amy in her old, destroyed home and this is where John found her. This could also explain Tiffany's note from demo chapter 3

I mean, sure it's a freaky pale child with rickets going around screaming obscenity and eating animals but he seems to know how to pick good targets due to the predatory nature of the being that has possessed him. In one of the endings of the first game where Michael hides in the backseat of the sedan (always lock your vehicle, folks!) its assumed John was attacked by coyotes. He is fast and he seems to like running around in rural, sparsely populated areas. He could have avoided most people, subsisting on stray animals and deer until he found Amy. Thing is, he still ended up near her. He isn't in the house, he's all around the property stalking around. Though not particularly intelligent, he's still somewhat formidable and strong for a flailing rickets child.

I shot that clown and when I got other people to find all the endings, I got them to shoot him too. I thought it went like the clown was a cultist who was involved with the twins birthday party as it was implied that happened around the time Amy was possessed. The cultists seem to be generally unbothered by the half demons that are the result of possession so was hanging around the Martin property to make sure whatever was happening wasn’t being messed with or to report who was coming by. After all, Amy’s mom writes a note saying how she found people who were on her property who claimed to be lost

Chapter 2 events... We basically had a playthrough of John's memories in a form of nightmare/dream... But twisted. We know that almost all other endings are impossible to take, in which it leads to nowhere/death. Except for canon ending and that one single ending, but then again, that one cultist was trailing after John... so it might just be death instead. (Thus, John perhaps, may not appear in chapter 3)

Though, I do believe that chapter 2 events, could only be canon with true ending, which is the same as chapter 1.

So.. Chapter 2 events that we had a playthrough, (in a sense) was twisted for John, due to his mental health.. in which he is supposed to re-do what he did.... or take a different path than the one he took in the past (His faith) Airdorf did say that chapter 2 events were real, or so he said.

However, it seems more likely to be the cult's power, to make those with weak faith, experience through same events, but twisted. Illusion or so, I guess.

I would put my bet, that the dream/nightmare John had throughout the whole game in chapter 2, was actually one of the cult's power to make John feel guilty all over again, and make other options possible for him, or so I would say. I don't really think that those are from his guilt alone, like where he turned into a spider, OR well.. yeah.

Remember the notes about a priest in chapter 2,who went into the basement?

Chapter 2 almost seems like a warning. Him seeing what the cult were doing and have done before, they’re trying again, they’re inside your head so what can you trust? You’re all alone now aren’t you?
Until his brain was able to snap out of it just enough to remind him through Garcia that he isn’t alone. He may not have been able to help before but he can learn from it and work together to stop it happening again if he only maintains his faith - shown through protecting Garcia or failing to do so.

I really like the story of the sanctuary from the demo. Shame people miss it by playing 2 immediately and skipping the demo

Note in the basement misses a lot of context without the demo

Garcia in chapter 2 is almost like a representation of the state of his faith, shown by the endings related to his fate in the dream.
If he fails to protect Garcia, it’s like he’s let them destroy his faith. He needs to be vigilant and do what he can to maintain faith, or as we see protect Garcia.

Whether that’s intentional or just my old English teacher’s voice echoing through my brain I dunno lmao but it’s an interesting thought

Here’s how I see it given what is discussed

John was indeed brought to previous events through demon-influenced nightmares and whatnot, but the demons there that attacked him (Miriam Bell, etc.) were really there, and were there to kill John in his dreams, Freddy Krueger-style. Garcia managed to intervene by entering John’s dream somehow and helped him to defeat Miriam Bell and escape the nightmare.

Which begs the question: How the hell did Garcia enter the dream?

I thought that it's still more dream than reality. It's just John's mind remembering what he did, feeling bad for not saving Amy, etc. Between chapter 1 and 2 John met Father Garcia. Person who understood how John feels and believed in everything John told him. John now sees Garcia as someone who he can relay on. John trusts Garcia and feels safe with him so in John's nightmare Garcia appears as the one helping him, saying it's not his fault and overall cheer him up. I have some... experience when it comes to understanding meanings of dreams. I analyzed all the demos and chapters including chapter 2 but writing it all here would take me some time, idk if anyone would be interested in reading it especially because as I'm hearing your theories mine are making less and less sense

The "dream" that John experienced must be real, in a way.. And that, it is not simply just a dream. (Why else would the cult and Unspeakable arrive outside John's house? Could a dream really do that? I doubt that, tbh)

I actually though of something reading this... what if Garcia in John’s dreams is actually tied to a personification of his faith? Think about it. John enters the darkest parts of the earth that is truly infiltrated and closest to hell and it’s evils. There was little mention of Garcia outside of the prologue where John isn’t there. Though this could have been a vision of what happened, or simply a narrative outside the dream is up to interpretation, before Garcia shows up we have no narrative connection between him and John outside of both being aware of murderous intervention by the supernatural. Though Garcia knows his name and John seems to know him enough to trust he isn’t demon possessed, there was nothing before that. Garcia could be a more literal symbol within John’s dreams that God has not abandoned him.

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Mathew 18:20

They even fight off the unspeakable by reading the psalms, which are written for God’s praise.

I was saying something like this the other night! That Garcia in his dream during that fight was like a personification if his faith, as if he gives his all to protect him as he should his faith he’s shown to have a sort of reaffirmation of his faith in that ending, where if he fails and let’s him die he has a crisis of faith.
Like his head reached through all that guilt and manipulation of the dream and showed him the one person who is still with him to tell him that he can still do this, he just has to have faith.

Uh... how would one do that? The original game is top down 2D and completely unable to support a mod like that.

My thing is that type of graphical style would have to be reworked for vr. The reason why we have a bright colors on a black background is so the colors pop as there was little space to create more complex@graphics during gameplay at the time. If you wanted a VR compatible 3D environment it would be much better fitting to instead work the game the way we see it during cutscenes with something that looks like the rotoscoping

If you go with that, it would be visually compelling. My thing is, how would we navigate to the house through the woods? It would have to be redesigned slightly. The house would stay in tact and all that. Also, Michael in the woods would have to be more based on hearing him and his black speech first to know which direction he was coming from as we are bound by our field of vision in VR vs the overhead view of the original where we could see him from all directions.

i think it could be done ( in a different game engine btw, not a mod) with a 2.5d environment where the sprites are all facing towards the player's camera. some things would have to change, but technically it could be pulled off

but a rotoscoped style would look much better especially when the normal sprite for John stands about 17 blue squares tall, which is not very graphically interesting to look at in vr

Prologue. Sort of an appetizer before the main course. It also gives some background info that you probably won’t find as prevalent in the full game

There is indeed an Unspeakable in Lovecraft. I haven’t read that one though so can’t say much on it. Considering the lovecraft influence in chapter 2 and the unspeakable, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is a Faith version of an old one.

Honestly I’m pretty torn on the malphas is the unspeakable theory. I like it, but at the same time I don’t lmao. So yeah I just don’t refer to them as the same. It’s also just a lot easier.

From said radio recording, I’ve gathered that the reason it’s called the Unspeakable is because in order for you to take control of it, you must call it by its true name. I was just playing Symphony of the Night and I got to the anti-chapel. Turns out there’s a confession booth there that you can go into. When you do, a ghostly preacher appears and enters from the other side and one of two things will happen:

1 - The preacher laughs maniacally, their eyes glow red, and several different kinds of blades and spear tips come out of the booth and stab you.

2 - The priest prays for your soul and you get some communion wine

Anyway, it reminded me of the ||confession booth from Chapter 2|| and I was wondering if that was the inspiration for it
