I know this film is inspired by the Exorcist, right? What I love about the Exorcist in its ability to get you to doubt things. These two priests go in doubting the girl is posssed but are soon convinced. But their exorcisms don’t work- that can make a case to some that God is probably real but has abandoned us.
In the Faith games, though John sees some undeniably horrible things, the things he does to protect him does, in fact work.

If I was in John's position, I'd be pretty scared shitless lmao. Sure, the cross works, but we can see it doesn't always work. I'd definitely start doubting the shit out of everything. Again, the whole thing with an exorcism is you're supposed to go in without fear because God has your back and he will protect you. You must have faith that he will, like those trust tests where you close your eyes and fall backwards and your friends catch you. It's that faith in him that protects you. You go in, see that shit, see it isn't in any way consistent, I'd for sure have plenty of doubts.
