Trenchbroom's limits are big, and you're not confined into making a thing as a single level
Some people split their maps in two parts easily

Asking because I have never tried it in dusk:
Is it possible to trigger enemies like in quake so that they aggro to you even if they havent seen you
Hypothetically. Skip face the bottom of your map, have the player spawn under the map, and instantly teleport to the start of the level. Any enemy that saw you should aggro, even if youre nowhere near them at the start of the level

ig you can make the floor under the enemies you want to agro func wall toggle and turn them of for a moment when you teleport the player

replace the file called draw or fire (i think just that one, the others might be some old wips) with something else and rename them to draw/fire
oh actually you should make a new folder in local with a name of the mod (whatever you want) then another folder in it called sounds, and another folder in that one called ssg, then place your files in there and rename them as i said, then launch the game, select your mod and make sure its above dusk base content
so you actually make a mod not replace actual stuff
You can find instructions for custom mod installation in mod descriptions usually
But in short
Be on the sdk beta on steam, and put your mod folders into dusk/sdk/mnt/local
Then boot up dusk, enter the "modding" menu, tick ur mod, hit "apply"

Any good guides on dusk mapping with trenchbroom? I need more information on triggers and doors and such as I am trying to make a door that opens when you kill the enemies in the room but for some reason the door opens in just one kill.
You're using trigger_counter? Make sure to manually change the "count" property on the trigger so it isn't greyed out
But to answer in general - dumptruck_ds with his quake mapping guides does pretty much what we do with the exception of sone features here and there
Most info about quake/half life 1 triggers and other mapping entities can be simply googled as well, it's usually applicable to dusk
Also can you dm me screenshots of your setup? Like, the door the triggers and all that jazz

it depends on what exactly are you making?
but it is a very useful tool up untill you need to make asymmetrical detail

why not just make it a cylinder with a smaller amount of vertices
and detail around it

Taking the information Garumin provided us about the speed of progress
on august 8th
From that posts creation to october 8th would have been 61 days or 8,7 weeks and if we assume garumin had made 11 textures per week, he would have created around 96 textures. However, if we assume he made 15 textures per week, he would have made around 131 textures. If 13 per week, 113 etc.
Another simple strategy to gauge his progress. Go in the dusk texture files and find how deep the straw texture is in the files, and BOOM.

You're making me want to think of a way to turn the switches into normal entities so you can replace them with more detailed models
Way ahead you.
option 1: simply export the new 3d model into an .obj with identical transforms as original. Close Unity, then drag and drop the new OBJ into the same OBJ folder in Unity, replacing it. This automatically imports and substitutes the objects in the prefabs. Do the same for texture pngs, add normal maps (change to normal texture type) then attach to 3 materials. This will do the job in all the scenes.
Option 2: If the button objects aren't prefabs but attached to a sub-object in a larger OBJ file:
Install "ReplaceWithPrefab.cs" into the project folder. find the materials in asset browser, select the 1st one and choose: "Find Dependency in scene". All objects that don't use this texture will become grey, highlighting your targets. Select these sub-objects, then open "ReplaceWithPrefab" tool. Just choose the prefab with the new material and object and substitute away. You'll have to do this with all 3 button types on all the maps, but it's just a few hours of work.

The way this would have to work is probably just a way to specify that a brush entity should load an external model instead of the one inside the BSP level

hey y'all! my fgd seems to be missing the rat model and i really need that

i can get the door to go to where i want it but its a little convoluted having it as an entity at 0, 0 and then setting the origin
