At a surface level perhaps, but any deeper and they're quite different
C# is a lot more powerful for writing high performance and low-level code, since it has value types, pointers, etc
Java only has reference types so you end up with a lot of unavoidable memory allocations

not all of them are in the current build but most are
IQM is a pretty nice format and is quite easy to load in OpenGL
i'll try it maybe :)
(btw you might have better luck ripping the models using AssetRipper, which can re-generate a whole Unity project in many cases)

first off, try not to make big games, so you can finish them quicker
and try not to burn yourself, or you'll end up hating your game
I heard the advice that you shouldn't start your career by creating your dream super mega project.
Start with something small
Do not try to make some grand masterpiece from the first try.
Don't think of the project as one big task
Try to break it down into smaller tasks
And do the same thing with each task
And approach everything with problem solving in mind
well just think about that if you keep leaving your project youll never finish anything, that is how i do it lol
im also a really good procrastinator
if i work more than 20 minutes in the 8 free hours i have everyday i will call it good progress
trying to build a comunity is also a good way to stick to a single project, i really thankfully managed to make a small community that stresses me just enough for a new update for me to keep working on it

so basically if the line starts with o it creates a new object with default position and scale, but the value next to it decides the sprite (in this case, 0 = gravestone)
if the line starts with p then the values assigned to it change the object's position
and if the line starts with e that tells the program to end the while loop that processes all of these
you must have an e at the end of the file or it will crash
it's not that good rn and i'm gonna try to improve it later and maybe even add a separate program for map editing
but this is by far the most complex thing i have ever done in my programming history
now if there are any people who have any idea on how to improve this
please give me advice
because i only have a 40% idea of what i'm doing

It's eveen better when it's complemented with extra geo stuff like bezier patches in Quake 3 or displacements in Source
Modular is preferable IMO for both performance and design.
Like sure you have to make the pieces up front but once you've made the pieces you can just, put them together.
It depends on personal preference I guess
I'm not really a fan of modular design since I think it hinders creativity
Then again, I'm more of a programmer than a level designer
So that's probably why I prefer editors like Radiant
I'm the opposite, having to think outside the box with already made pieces is pretty fun at times.
Albeit I'm not really a level designer either, more an animator and 3D artist.
But when I have designed levels I've found that modular suits my needs better.
I've actually slowly been working on map importers for Unity and Blender ๐
Yeah there are some cases where modular design is preferable, but approaching everything with that in mind is not a good idea imho
But I'm just an English teacher who likes tinkering with games and engines so don't take my words seriously
I've just always found dealing with CSG more frustrating than building things out of parts or just making the levels in Blender.

So what he decides to do is grab an old membrane keyboard, pluck the spacebar out somehow, grab the 2 springs, stick in on my mechanical keyboard's spacebar so it is forced to bounce back up after being pressed
He created a fucking mem-chanical keyboard that's just mostly mechanical except for a spring
and it fucking works flawlessly.

in this game i went with the idea of fragmenting scripts to triggers and Props...so basically all levels are basically a combination of triggers and props which makes modding easier and also makes making levels easy
Im doing the same with mine
I have created prefabs for encounter triggers
Zo they can be placed, dropped and modified in little time
My one complaint is that the triggers were a little slow to activate in your game
any in particular just so i can focus on it more
also i should probably set a server for it by now

Now that i added bumpers and its possible to go faster horizontally than max run speed ill probably clamp speed you can move without clamping the velocity, and make it so your horizontal speed doesn't slow down to max run speed

godot is EXTREMELY friendly to newcomers
and unreal already expects you to know how to use it

ok so
there's a bunch of gameobjects who are children of an ai point class
the ai gets sent the array of gameobjects and is told to go twords the first one
once the ai enters a checkpoint trigger, then it's told to go twords the next object
and so on and so forth until the track loops
and to add randomness the point that the ai is told to go twords has a random sphere offset added to it
it took me like a day to make the ai
but it was fun :)
tldr version: the ai acts like a mouse following a trail of crumbs
but the mouse can't see very well

Dont get me wrong c# wasnt Thaaat hard... but some things like making signals and the listener pattern didnt make any damn sense to me...

Preliminary stages of a dodge mechanic. Some attacks can't be blocked and will need to be dodged. Still tweaking enemy AI, but they have more of a windup to their attacks now
Feels nice, but for some reason it doesn't feel as natural to press up to jump for something like this

also i finally replaced the test jump pads in the first level with the dusk jump pads
while ripping the textures i realized that the texture for the jump pad was named "teleporter" and the texture for the teleporter was named "jump pad"

So im working on a movement shooter where you throw vials of chemicals and elements at enemies to damage them as well as add or subtract heat/energy. Though somthing feels empty when it comes to uniqueness between different reactions and using different elements
Im thinking different slings for each element, like a shotgun sling for iron, a full auto for aluminum, a sniper for potassium.
As that would encourage the fun zone to create reactions
Though i have no idea how to pair this with the addition of energy
