it was eons ago that I read about this
I'm struggling to find any info on it now though
the main think that irks me about ECS is that inter-system communication is so messy
you either look at the other system's compoennt and react to flags or that system leaves you a message component you clean up after recieving it
It's a bit of a pain in the ass to work with in that respect, yeah
I admit I'm still not sure what the best way to do that is
I feel like you'd end up with a lot of situations where things get reacted to a frame late as a result
I wonder how much of a problem that is in the real world though
Part of the problem (imo) is that there just aren't enough "real-world" code samples using the pattern

like sure... look at all the message components at the end, jus tput that system last but like... what if that adds another message component, that has already been processed... gotta wait a whole frame to get picked up
I guess it reduces actual coupling though

if you have a cleanup system that removes all the stale messages at the end of the frame then you can just remove systems form objects with 0 actual consequences

pretty much everything is stored in globalassetsmanager.assets and there are copies of files in common, act 1, act 2, etc

if you do an integer upscale of a texture, and then filter it, the higher scale you go, the more unfiltered it will look
because the neighboring pixels will be more accurate to the source image

I'd recommend trying to find some geographic / location references to build your map on. The areas, at least from an art perspective, seem a little uninspired

In terms of designing levels, you need to let the theme influence the shape of the layout and overall structure of buildings and the map
not just creating rooms and trying to detail them in your theme after you've finished the whole layout

there's constant human errors in the gameplay like snapping to doors

and the neural net wouldn't fail at gabriel or any fucking boss for that matter

because it literally learns patterns, that's it job
an AI can't get "confused" by a target moving quickly if it was literally taught about a target that moves quickly
and if it wasn't taught about gabriel's boss fight then it's absolute bullshit because then it wouldn't even be able to classify it as an enemy

ok so just installed BepInEx and Ultrakit but it doesn't seem to work.
Tried using the latest build folder and couldn't seem to make anything work. I noticed it said using 6 would activate it (I guess the physgun), but doing so just caused an Index out of range error in the console. Trying to do anything with the menu at the top left doesn't actually do anything.
Tried using the automatic install but it still doesn't seem to work so I went back to the latest build. The console says the addon is loaded, and the github says the physgun is included and the spawner should work, but I can't figure it out and I was wondering if someone could help me.
Tried checking through the .cs files but it didn't really help me

Nope. Been actively avoiding touching Blueprints until I feel confident in my mapping and texturing.... which reminds me that I still need to learn how Blender works.

learn Blueprint Interfaces early
they are the most useful thing you will ever use
The vast majority of what I do is done in 20-30 minute bursts between taking care of kids.
they're very useful for generic systems basically
because now instead of having to cast to every single target ever and asking it "pls do thing", you just ask the interface to do the thing instead, and it'll work on anything with the interface and just do nothing if there isn't one

if you want to do something like interactions, this is the way to do it
because otherwise you'll have to cast to every single object that has an interaction event which is a massive no-go

Anybody have a clue why these two lines of code are causing my character controller to stick to ceilings in Unity?

playerVelocity -= collisionDifference;
This is just supposed to be newton's law of equal opposite reaction basically
playerVelocity is exactly that, the player's current velocity (vector3), and the collision difference is just the amount of force the player is hitting the surface of collision with, unless I screwed up my math somehow.
works fine everywhere except for the underneath of ramps at low angles, eg bumping your head into a 30 degree ramp from the underside, the player sticks to the ramp ceiling and slides towards the lower end of underside of the ramp
