To me the sword is one of the 'workhorse' weapons. Reasonably effective against most enemies, nice spread, works close and far, fairly ammunition rich, etc. Can be used for basically anything.
With the staff taking care of fliers, those two'll get you anywhere.

@dark granite @night ginkgo One more thing, if you get a chance to speak with Geforce Now staff. When I try to enable the DLC for Amid Evil (windowed mode + steam client) it doesn't hold. It downloads the DLC but when I restart game the DLC is unchecked.
