like Leon said, projectile's edges of Whisper's Edge and Voltride in the face, Gauntlets work too but take too long. Celestial Claw is useful too but you gotta hit the ground behind the shield so it doesnt reflect. best choice would be to use Voidsplitter (instakill).
soul-powered versions of weapons also work against them, like Azure Orb Staff, Whisper's Edge, Star of Torment and Celestial Claw if you hit ground.

if you decide to play with main game's weapons then Aeturnum works too (if you shoot it behind them). funny that the Axe is more useful here than the Gauntlets cos if you bash their shield the left side swing of the Axe will hit 'em.

whenever Beasts chase you and there is a higher platform on their way (a step, a torch, etc.) they somehow teleport on it (no animation) and cannot jump down from it.

its like the game thinks said platform is stairs and automatically puts enemy AI on it, but cannot put them back down because the platform doesnt have a path down to walk on, so AI is just stuck there. only seen those happen to Beasts, other enemies seem to work fine with them. probably cos other enemies can actually jump.

i think there are several reasons that define why Amid Evil isnt much popular:

1. (imo) fantasy isnt as popular as sci-fi or cyberpunk or other futuristic settings in gaming industry.

2. people would rather shoot from a cyber-shotgun than a magic wand because the shotgun is more comprehensible and down-to-Earth thing.

3. from what i gathered in some AE reviews, people complain that the soundtrack is mid cos its boring and forgettable, which shows me that those people only played doom-alikes with metal n shit.

4. some other people complained that the game itself is boring, be it level design, enemy roster, arsenal, or, heck, few people even found graphics horrible because of how many polygons enemies have. one dude even said he didnt feel "the impact" from weapons, which baffles me because the impact IS HERE AND ITS GREAT.

i cant tell what exactly makes people turn their back to this game. its unique, its precious, its awesome, but for some reason its cursed with being less popular than many other games of such genre. its not Ultrakill ofc, but i believe it deserves the same spot as Dusk in popularity.

Fun if you've already played the game through a few times. I think it'd need a bit to make it work. You're generally using the blue/green weapons as workhorses and randoming into the others would either leave you with no ammo or devastating most enemies. So extra chaos would come from unexpected enemies or modifiers to weapons and enemies.
