Also, there are people online saying they kind of expected a huge plot twist, like the protagonist being evil or everything being part of a cycle, but found their expectations subverted in a good way when everything was straightforward without any twists to ruin the good plotline and ending.

Don't really remember anything about betrayed sun worshipper though.
