so, my speculation here, he's probably the watcher of the Black Labyrinth. he observes anyone who dares to enter it and defines whether or not the challenger is worthy of its price - the Axe.
another theory of mine is that he's one of the Old Gods who forged the Axe and is watching over it so nobody steals it.
nothing much is known about him really except that his aesthetic gives me heavy The Void vibes. if devs told me he's one of the Evil's goons i would believe them.

He was doing relatively well until he got stuck on the Scrounge complaining that the boss was too spungy while continously ignoring my advice to just farm the minions for soul mode

after all the knowledge that the "axe returns to the labyrinth after the owner dies" has to have been seen and proven

i just wanted to mention that solar saint boss health doesnt scale with difficulty and that if that was fixed, he'd be painful to fight
would still be rather cheesable with soul mode

i like how enemies become faster on Evil. seeing a group of Creepers running towards you at the speed of a racing car is terrifying and forces you to use Axe.

bhop sideways and shoot at the standing enemy whilst making sure to press left whenever you hit the ground because that acts as the forward button
