Since Caleb at the end of blood is explained by churnobog gained so much power from killing pepole he wanted to kill Caleb to absorb his power, which Caleb ofc won.
And for a reach, Jakob was closest to nyar in terms of being worthy, so it could also be that Jakob had Caleb's gunslinger ablities and movement long before you fought him, to see if duskdude was even better at Caleb if he was mortal

I used the aestop cheat and then decreased their gravity with a black hole. Then they didn't get killed by the black hole because they couldn't perform the animation.
So they stayed as statues with decreased gravity
Anyway so far this is 2 cases of mages leaving upside down corpses when shot from above with the crossbow
The crossbow or the angle don't necessarily have to do with it, it might just be a coincidence
The only special thing crossbow does to enemies that I know of is the 50% gib chance on kill

With secrets: check for cracks in walls, weird misaligned textures, or clusters of props that may have switches behind them

Duskmare feels a bit like a party trick difficulty imo. It feels artificially hard thru a gimmick rather than incentivizing the player to be better. But some people really like that slower tactical style so at least Dusk has an option for it
