The movement it gives you is awesome, you can slide, and even do a somersault in the air

And I don't really think games are made with that mindset now. In the indie space they see it as easy money a lot of the time and in the triple A space they see it as a buisness rather than an artform.
Of course games are a business. But I think it's reductive to treat them as though they're any different than movies or music in that they are a form of art. And I think the way our society is trending, towards stuff like streaming and all that. Call me old fashioned, but I think that kind of thing is just going to stop the consumer from getting things they can actually tangibly own and instead shove services upon them. It might seem fine on paper, but I think we should be able to hold our possessions in our hands, rather than being able to access them as long as we have internet service.

I think there are a few main things that need to be done.

Secondly, you need some focal point for the gameplay, for retro fps games that's movement and high speed combat.

I've seen plenty of unique ssg's. For example, ssg's that aren't just limited to instant death at close range, eg a hunting shotgun that remains useful at other ranges

The thing is I don't really know what the point of the regular shotguns is in the face of the super shotgun in Dusk. I guess it's just for like, shooting with a bit more range and being a bit more conservative
Like a regular shotgun takes out most mid-low enemies in 1 or 2 shots

like soldiers, cultists
soldiers are hard to dodge, so its good to keep them at range, and the lever actions are more accurate
and they fire faster so I find them more reliable with the ff powerup

IMO, the shotguns are the best ranged weapon in Dusk until you get the hunting rifle
