Well the free rank doesn't have enough /ad for owner and others it's hard to maintain a server and others and that's kinda sad some server die because of that.

Personally think it should be at least 30 ads, 1 ad a day sounds fair

Most literally spend money, make money.

For real..

#

is there a way to purchase ads?

#

is that how it's supposed to work?

pearl basalt
#

you buy a rank

#

it comes with afs

#

*ads

I think they should make it somewhere in the range of 30-60. Right now the chat is pretty sparse. As crazy as it sounds, there are too few ads. Specifically, 60%+ of the ads you see are from the same few servers. I'd like to see some more variety in the ads I'm seeing.

# sage loom I think they should make it somewhere in the range of 30-60. Right now the chat ...

agreed, im not much of an ad'er servers i enjoy since 80% of the time they just get blocked out by the 4-7 big servers advertising constantly, and have no impact, and you only get 10 chances a month to make anything happen, and with generally low player retention on mh as a whole, that's not enough
when im looking for a new server, its easy to go half an hour with only big servers advertising(or small generic servers)
so giving more ads to the unranked advertisers would be nice for variety

imo the ad update and everyone's ranks being taken away started the downfall of mh

#

used to average around 12k back then, now it doesn't even peak at 12k

knotty pumice
#

You're mentioning those numbers completely out of context, and the ad and rank changes have almost nothing to do with the average playercount getting so much lower

#

Minehut was averaging 12k during COVID lockdown, every single server was having more users than normal, hypixel hit 200k+ users during COVID and now peaks at 50k on most days, do you want to blame that on them introducing some bad game or something?

It really has nothing to do with the fact that people aren't stuck at home anymore?

Wasn't the player count pretty good in late 2022 when most of the USA was back to normal operations? It's also very obvious that limiting how long players can use their server will reduce the average concurrent player count. You can't place a limit on how long someone can play on their server and not expect people to stop playing as much (because minehut makes them leave after 4 hours not because they want to leave)

knotty pumice
#

This isnt really the best place to discuss this as this is a suggestion thread about increasing ads for default users. The limit isnt going away anytime soon 👍

👎 Why put thumbs up after something negative and dismissive? Gives the same energy as ChatGPT saying "you probably cannot achieve this goal in 24 hours for your hackathon🚀 " (actual thing that happened last Saturday).

You are right that this is not the place to discuss this issue, but I do think increasing the variety of servers using /ad would help transform the free time ends -> lobby -> exit game pipeline into a free time ends -> lobby -> server discovery pipeline for some users. I see them as somewhat related problems for this reason.

I get it having to be low to make money

#

Because that makes someone with money want to buy the rank even more

sage loom
# pearl basalt Then there is no pints of ranks

I didn't check the pricing, but I see your point because VIP is 50. Add 50 to all the ranks so that default is 60, VIP is 100, etc. With my original plan, default would've had more ads at 60 than current VIP does.

versed junco
#

Imagine a world where each rank had this many ads and costed this many credits...
Default: 30 (no colors, free)
VIP: 60? (800 credits)
VIP+ 300? (1800 credits)
PRO: 600 (3500 credits)
LEGEND: 1200 (6750 credits)
PATRON: 2400 (12500 credits)

and then they sold extra ads as standalone packages...
50 ads (600 credits)
150 ads (1500 credits)
450 ads (3750 credits)
1350 ads (9000 credits)

Why did minehut even start monetizing ads, it feels a bit scummy. They could've thought of better ideas to make money

knotty pumice
#

It's the main thing people buy ranks for so it makes sense

#

No one buys the rank cuz they like the cosmetics they get

ancient geyser
#

I feel like it was alright before though, with the long ad cooldowns

#

I mean i bought an og legend rank, and now for me to get a measly 90 ads per month, 3 ads per day is kind of a scam

knotty pumice
#

The chat was unbearable back then

ancient geyser
#

Yeah, now it's dead

#

So what's better?

#

I'd say the first option

knotty pumice
#

Now players can talk in chat without it being spammed away

ancient geyser
#

Noone wants to talk in a minehut lobby realistically thought let's be honest

knotty pumice
#

I do

#

Mods like it as well

hollow trench
#

there are people talking in the lobbies right now lol

knotty pumice
#

People asking for help like it too

#

And new people love a chat that isnt a wall of spam

ancient geyser
#

New people can't discover servers as easily

knotty pumice
#

They can though, theres a whole GUI of server types, random server joining, and ads still happen, they just dont spam the chat

#

In fact, I think the non spammy chat makes ads even more useful

#

If I see one ad in a minute of chatting, then I look at that ad more than seeing 1 ad a second in chat

ancient geyser
#

Okay, but we've got to admit it's harder for smaller servers to grow now. Especially if the owner doesn't have a rank

knotty pumice
#

I think giving them 30 ads would be reasonable, if they use the ad at a good time it's useful

ancient geyser
#

Yeah, but not a lot of people look there

#

Most of them just do to check how mr command coders forum is doing

#

😭

sage loom
#

I'd like some sort of way to increase the variety of server I see being advertised. I think giving more ads to the lower ranks might accomplish that. I'm just tired of seeing the same like 5 or 6 servers being advertised over and over again. Especially when 4 of those 6 servers are basically the same server.

ancient geyser
#

yeah

#

by giving people less ads, small servers, where the owners don't wish to spend hunders of dollars on advertising are not given opportunities to grow as easily

versed junco
#

well, like all businesses your server will grow depending on how much you're willing to invest

ancient geyser
#

ofc, but not everyone has money to grow a server & if more ads were given, more people could grow servers, earn money & purchase better ranks & plans etc. (my opinion)

candid lava
#

inf ads was a good time

glossy shadow
#

investing will help, but there is much more to it than throwing money at the problem

#

like strategies to get your users to advertise on their own, like referrals
