In short, a disagreement between myself and the guy who codes on how some really bad players make me and others feel, resulting in the guy who codes leaving and the guy who owns the IP to be convinced incorrectly that the issue was in my hands.

There has always been a major issue with the servers I’ve owned or inherited, being that players are overly toxic. I’ve always been able to handle it and deal with it appropriately because I was able to have the say in those sorts of things, and remove people where really necessary. 10 was worse than anything I’ve dealt with before from the community, showing very early that some were there only to make blatantly untrue personal attacks against myself and others. Unfortunately with 10 I was forced into a rule by the guy who coded to let the people who made those such attacks, be allowed to keep talking and keep playing. He told me to deal with it, he did not see how much some of the things hurt me, and I got angry in response to those people - which he ended up seeing as a me problem, and not a them problem. He chose not to be a friend and chose to leave believing that I was the issue.

I can’t change his opinion on the situation but I know that he’s right and wrong at the same time - right that my anger should have been more controlled, wrong that it was my fault, wrong that I could not take criticism, wrong that the reputation of the server was smaller than me. Well, I’ll make that last one right

Regardless, we lose friends, we grow up, we move on, and for me, instead of being the one who leaves or the one who ghosts, I choose to stand and move forward, continue to better myself, continue to adapt to do things better, and continue to keep creating these experiences for people who deserve to enjoy them.

hey, this may be late but I wanted to give crit's teaching of the day

One imporant skill people should learn when making servers is the ability to be self dependent. By this, I mean the ability to keep moving forward no mater who exits out on you. Now a lot of people are different, and you have to go at a pace that you are comfortable with.

I disagree with this. Met this guy over 4 years ago, bonded heavily over minecraft but also a ton of other games, spent a lot of time together, knew his real name, had potential plans of meeting, did (redacted) together… we were for sure good friends that met over minehut

I completely agree with this though. The only fault of this is that I do not own the 10 IP so 10 as it stands cannot come back with them gone. I got all the files but I also feel the void game is just not set for the, lets face it, low attention span child fest that is minehut in 2024. Alas, I do still move on, and I’m working on returning two games to their former glory now!

if you only spend time with the person on minehut, and, at least in your situation, it sounds like he thought of you more as a business partner and less of a friend

I played a 10 remake and was fairly active like a few years ago

And I made a remake myself because that remakes owner was toxic, and then I learned a similar fate to you

That the entire community around 10 and 10 like servers (for whatever reason) is just incredibly toxic

It’s just because the game is designed around being against each other, so people always take it too far

I’ve owned two other pretty massive servers and I have not seen even a 10th of the toxicity as I did from that one, and it wasn’t even that popular

the crazy thing tho is I owned a PVP server called blupvp (not advertising bc it’s closed now, just fyi) and it was literally KBPVP with leaderboards

And everybody was chill in discord and constantly having friendly discussions

It’s just really i think the grindy aspect/civilization esc aspect that brings out that strong toxicity

i know its been a few hours but i actually really thought about it

and i think really, its BECAUSE of the civ aspect

you really had to kinda spend a lot of time on the server to make any progress, and then spend a LOT more time to keep it safe and secure

just... because of the civilization it naturally leads to friendships (but more importantly enemies)

which obviously can then become a more toxic enviroment, what with betrayals and stuff

and some players will think betrayals are just haha funny game whereas others will take it really seriously

Anticheats aren’t designed to work with a void world most of the time

We had major problems with that when we had this up

We cycled like 3 anticheats in a month trying to find one that might work the best and there was always a major flaw with each of them

The people who play those servers are monsters and they breed a toxic community and it's just an endless cycle. It's the worst keeping that kind of server up

That's why I don't do PvP based gamemodes, PvP is overall toxic in all games

I definitely feel like there’s a way to make things better. Gamemodes based around PvP or competitive survival games like void or something like factions always have a base level of toxicity to them and I don’t think that’s the issue

It’s just when players think that toxicity can supersede what the game “allows” and they start acting heavily negative outside of the game scenario
