Remove Servers that are dead

Hello, right now there are a lot of servers that are dead and have a name. Or players hog names. I suggest that all dead servers get removed. As it will clear up a lot of names new or old users can use. It's upsetting that when you go to find a name that's taken and when you join that server it's dead. You guys can refresh and more servers name will be open so new players and old can use names that have might been taken by a dead server.

I don’t like this suggestion because players may want to take a break from their server for a while before working on it again, but I’m just saying that what I do is if I’m done with a server and don’t need/use it anymore I rename it to a random string of characters, freeing up the name for someone else.

How you determine whether a server is truly abandoned where nobody will ever go back?

I completely disagree with everything here besides for Lynx, this is a terrible idea. Removing and or renaming old servers is a good way to alienate your community especially since a lot of people come in and out. Lynx is completely right you never know if they will come back and imagine coming back after a while to losing all your servers/server names.

renaming them isn't nearly as bad, if you let a server name that somebody else might want just sit there for years then it's only fair someone else can take it instead

How about send a notice to the email of the account holder like 2 weeks before the name is reassigned so if user does care to keep their server they will confirm they would like to keep the server

plz be aware that minehut is operating with much less staff than a year ago. there are only 3 or 4 devs taking care of MH now.

might be weird around servers created in the lobbies, but most of the time they have to make a Minehut account anyway to be able to control anything about it

Ok but still there is no way to determine if someone wants to keep that name. Alot of people dont check their emails regularly.

If Minehut were to remove servers they should send like 14 day notice of removal of server

and paid servers are exempt from this

I bet there are no innactive paid servers

like who would be wasting their money for something they're not using

not to be that guy but some peoples lifes don't revolve around minecraft <3 to keep check on if your server is going to get deleted

though im surprised more people arent using the essentials mod to play with friends

I doubt a lot of people who are in that situation actually have plans for their MC servers, most probably forgot about it

this could be benefitial for Minehut as a reminder may be all whats needed to bring an old player back online

At minimum add option for user to delete servers

like what's the harm in allowing a user to delete their own server freeing up space and the server name for another user

My suggestion for this is after 8 or 12 months, rename the server
at 6 months, you can send a warning by email to players
the rename can be a random set of digits, or like if the server is named "theserver", rename it to "theserver2109374978"
