Remove viaversion totally?
youre a funny one
that moment when you realize you cant

i swear there's a reason why it got forced on idk ask minehut trent said something about it i think
agreed
just code another plugin that counters viaversions effects
duh
Im sure that plugin would spread like wild fire lmao
900 iq
maybe they should keep it enforced but if you really want to you can like tick a box or something to like stop enforcing viaversion
i think people were complaining they couldnt join there server and it was a version issue
so they enforced viaversion
so people dont complain
sad they should let you disable it
It should be DEFAULTED, not enforced
Like you said
ok but why?
whats the issue with via version
I mean having it be a toggle would be ok, but whats the problem with via version that you want it to be a toggle
theres always gonna be bugs with version plugins but thats not the point
but then what is the point of having a toggle?
no
im not asking for a toggle
im asking for them to not even put the plugin on my server in the first place
tbh who cares
if i want a certain version of players to access my server, that's my decision
get like plugmanx and make it disable viaversion on startup using skript or something idk
ah yes putting bandaids on smth instead of fixing it
i doubt they gonna stop enforcing viaversion any time soon
viaversion might have some sort of configuration to disable allowing newer versions to connect anyway
that would defeat the purpose of viaversion tho...
yeah...
# Easier to configure alternative to 'block-protocols'. Uses readable version strings with possible '<' and '>' prefixes.
# An example to block 1.16.4, everything below 1.16, as well as everything above 1.17.1 would be: ["<1.16", "1.16.4", ">1.17.1"]
# You can use both this and the block-protocols option at the same time as well.
block-versions: []
just put ```
block-versions: [">yourversion"]
hes just giving us solutions that leave us with pretty much an empty jar on the server
THAT
Is
Not
the
Point
pov: you realize feedback for minehut is useless
yeah idk the point of these threads
it's just the whole meta github surge all over again
after a while the devs will inevitably ignore this place
pretty much if its not something huge = ignore it or consider it pointless feedback / suggestion
15 planned features. the newest one dating back almost a year ago
when you realize the other stuff is just adding useless channels or revamps to the discord 😦
or uploading a video on how to enchant items in minecraft
I feel like feedback channels were just made so people can express what theyd like but 99.9% of all of them will be ignored
you cant buy backups separately and it would be nice but more on the subusers/port allocations side because its useful as heck
honestly hope the subusers get added at some point because its been missing for quite some time
and it was like 2 years ago when it was suggested ;-;
by trent lmfao
if trent himself suggested it 2 years ago and its still not here I doubt its coming anytime soon
its probably not high priority but its like a security feature really i think it should be high priority
because like without this you have to share your login
which isnt safe
its very useful to have and like ptero even has it
its a very needed feature
considering they consider revamping support channel and doing this channel as a higher priority than sub users is kinda eh
yeah i wish minehut cared about the community more tbh
Ya but what can you really do besides hope they decide to do something about it eventually
very off the topic
i think it's fair to want to be able to disable it, but i still think it's better to leave it on by default since we want players to be able to join as many servers as possible and not have issues because the owner didn' tknow to install viaversion
well yeah you can have it on servers by default
it's just annoying when we do want to delete it and it gets reinstalled every time the server starts up
install plugman, then make a script that runs /plugman unload ViaVersion after a couple seconds on server start
🧠
Yeah I said that and some other ideas
Kinda weird how the plugin is there without any explaniation
If it isn't going to be removable then the delete button for the plugin file should be replaced with some kind of info popup button about why it exists and why it should stay
Id say make it automatically on by default so all servers will still have it on and then for people who don't just add like an option for them to disable it
We tried to remove it once - there was panic and chaos about minehut being broken - adding an opt out is prolly good
you can already remove versions which you dont want
yes thank you
The plugin should honestly just not "re-install", it should download when you create a new server or reset the current one but then not reinstall itself when you delete it, for people that delete it on accident, maybe have a "repair viaversion" button, it shouldn't be force reinstalled though
why have a repair button when you could just have a button which disables it lol
Sure, whatever works, I think this would work better though as having a toggle for it adds another step and could be confusing as it's a new button which people generally wouldn't know about
you dont even need the words viaversion, at least not in the title
just a button that says “Allow newer-versioned players on the server” is good enough
"Allow players on newer versions to join this server"
and maybe add via rewind and other via stuff as an option as well
well
the thing about the via plugins and protocol support is that they’re always off and on about bugs
you can never get a truly stable system with these kids of plugin workarounds and sometimes one works better than another
ViaVersion itself is pretty harmless since it doesnt have to remap new features to old users
As far as I know, this exists... But it's probably not what you're looking for.
SpigotMC : ViaDisable : by AbeTGT
(don't know if i can post a link, sorry)
Yes
as stated before in this thread, the point isnt to disable it, but to opt out of the jar file being on the server entirely
this could probably be possible
