#Connecting a switch to a laptop

Maybe you got some wrong config. I can help but need to be an active discussion.
And no, of course you cannot use your mouse and keyboard with a capture card
when you say the audio isn't working, do you mean that you can't hear the game audio when you have the capture card plugged in and running through obs
because when i plug my capture card in, by default i can't hear it either, but if you go into settings > System > Sound > Sound control panel > then find the capture card in the "recording" tab, you can go into it's properties and listen to the audio through there. Then you can use that as your stream audio in OBS. If you do this, make sure you turn down the captue card's seperate audio section in obs
yea thats what im saying thanks
i cant find system
That's not what he meant, he meant Window's settings. But that isn't an optimal way to do it either, since you can figure it out by simply looking at available audio source in OBS.
Which capture card are you using?
this one
Then I know exactly how to do it
Go to your Sources panel, for your capture card's properties, set it like this:
Or you can also set Audiout Output Mode like this
Btw it's better most of the time to stay at 720p on both the capture card and the Switch's TV settings to ensure less delay
wait so can i just plug in earbuds or bluetooth from my laptop settings
If you use the 2nd setting
ok
Test though since it follows the default audio output to desktop audio
but sometime when you change audio device, it doesn't change this default audio device on OBS
what you're talking about here
It's a bit technical, let me try to explain it briefly
ok
That capture card can only capture 1080p 30fps or 720p 60fps
It cannot capture 1080p 60fps. Or it can but isn't stable.
The Switch can output to 1080p 60fps but not all games can do that. Most games do 1080p 30fps.
While capturing, there's a processing step in between. So if there's a mismatch, for example, you have the Switch outputting 720p 60fps and the capture card at 1080p 30fps then the processing will create a delay.
If you sync them, however, then the delay will be lessen.
The problem is you need to know what is the resolution and fps the game can output.
So if you have a game that can only do 1080p 30fps then you can set the capture card at 1080p 30fps, it will do just fine.
i play rocket league, apex, fall guys, and realm royale
A better solution, is to enforce a blanket rule on both ends
You can force the Switch to output 720p no matter what
how
by going into System Settings > TV settings > Resolution
Then you can set the OBS properties for that capture card at 720p 60fps
Even if the game is 720p 30fps it will create no issue
the problem with this setup is it will always lock at 720p, even if the game can do 1080p
So you have 2 options, either do the blanket setup at 720p or you can be flexible and adjust base on the game you are playing. The latter requires you to check the resolution and frame rate of the game you want to capture.
ok
On the Switch's settings, yes. But you still need to adjust the OBS settings, too.
how
Heh
