I cannot believe this small problem is persisting for so long.
Error code: 2210-2215
I tried every method I could find online but to no avail
( IP setting, DNS setting, OFF/on both switch and router, forget and reenter, changing Security, and literally try connecting my switch on top of my router)
the switch is not connecting to the network device which I assumed is the router. But the router is working fine and i am using Discord with it
The switch can connect to my phone hotspot too.
ask me anything

pure walrus
#

i am not familiar with the name of some terms so my apology too

near vapor
#

I see. I was actually asking that question to test the level of your understanding.

#

Your config may not be correct. But regardless, Switch's Wifi is notorious for being finicky.

#

There are many methods to fix it, but there's a worst case scenario where the Wifi chip is broken.

#

At least it's connecting to a hotspot now

#

Joycon and other wireless controller is working fine?

pure walrus
#

yes

#

My friend played just dance on it

#

albeit with my mobile data

near vapor
#

You have done these steps (to delete and re-add Wifi) below?

TIPS TO IMPROVE WIFI CONNECTION

ยง The Switch's Wifi connection is quite weak, thus it always has issue to reach the maximum speed limit of your Internet connection. You can check the connection quality by going into Home screen > System Settings > Internet > Test Connection. To improve it, you can try these steps below:

1. Delete your Wifi connection from the Switch.
Home screen > System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings > Choose your network > Clear Settings
2. Restart your Switch by Holding the Power button until the Power option menu appear > Choose Restart.
3. Restart your router/modem by cycling its power (Turning off then on again).
4. Bring your Switch closer to the router/modem then connect to the Wifi again.
5. Add DNS to your Switch's Wifi settings. Type !tag dns for details.

๏ฟฎ Aside from this, you can try:
๏ฝฅ Using a different waveband for your Wifi, 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz.
๏ฝฅ Changing password and security settings (Yes, it's weird)
๏ฝฅ Change the channel your Wifi is broadcasting on. Automatic mode is often not very good.
๏ฝฅ Set a static IP address for your Switch, following the DHCP setting on your router. Google these details to learn how.

near vapor
#

And read through the other methods as well

#

Not sure if your router has 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz or both, but that's one thing to try

pure walrus
#

i believe i did, but not in these order
i will perform it now

near vapor
#

Let's try again, just for good luck ^^;

near vapor
#

So both at the same time, with different Wifi?

pure walrus
#

the router box state it have both 2.4 and 5
but i have never seen the 5 one so i asked my relative who installed the router

#

they said it is combined, sort of?

near vapor
#

Ah so it's just one

#

You can config it so it'll stay in just one type

#

2.4Ghz is a longer wave length, letting it travels further, and can go through obstacles better

#

5Ghz is shorter wave length, very strong at close range, but it's weaker at longer range and can be blocked easier

#

There should be an option for you to choose which one you want the router to broadcast in

pure walrus
near vapor
#

Haha can't say till you see that option the router's config menu

pure walrus
#

literally 3 meter apart

near vapor
#

2.4Ghz is widely used

#

some routers can broadcast both at the same time, having 2 different Wifi signal

pure walrus
near vapor
#

You remember your laptop's IP?

pure walrus
#

yes?

near vapor
#

Tell me. Don't worry , it's just your local IP address.

pure walrus
#

๐Ÿ‘€

near vapor
#

Your public IP address is something else entirely and that one you shouldn't tell strangers on the internet

#

but local IP address is something often define by the default setting of your router

#

it's a relative easy thing to figure out, so it's no secret

pure walrus
#

im not sure if the one im looking at is local or public

near vapor
#

and beside, even if people know about it, without knowing your public IP they can't get in

pure walrus
#

its in wifi preference

#

advanced

near vapor
#

Does it start with 192.168.0.x?

pure walrus
#

lmao yes

near vapor
#

Like I said, it's not hard to figure out

pure walrus
#

IPv4 right?

near vapor
#

Open a web-browser, enter 192.168.0.1 on the address bar and press enter

#

Eh I hope you know your router's admin password

#

or just use admin/admin ๐Ÿ˜›

pure walrus
#

the box has it. i hope noone changed it

#

also my browser is loading like crazy when i put the number in

near vapor
#

0_o

#

Hmm

#

Tbh with you, this kind of thing is super annoying to do without me being there

#

and teaching you while doing it is like...even harder

#

Normally I would try to tell these methods to someone at least know how to config their router

#

You can also ask your relative who install your router to help

#

or ask your ISP to send out a service man

#

What do you want to do?

#

Btw, one thing I forgot to ask

#

when your Switch tried to connect to your Wifi, what happened?

#

does it show an error?

#

or it failed to connect?

pure walrus
#

my apology i was outside for a moment

near vapor
#

No worry

pure walrus
#

the number need ot be changed a little

near vapor
#

So you have a few options to try next

#

I see

#
  1. Try to change it to only 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, test both.
  2. Change the password of the Wifi and test again using the steps in the tag.
  3. Try changing the broadcasting channel.
  4. Try to input the correct static IP this time.
#

I can explain a bit about the static IP

pure walrus
#

whelps
i got locked for 1800 second
the broswer was staggering and i click refresh

near vapor
#

as for those configs above, I can try to help but it's not easy

#

as each router has a different setting page

#

Often, I have to dig the manual of that router out to help you remotely

#

You can try 1 and 2 solutions first

pure walrus
#

thanks! i will be waiting for my cool down to end (30min) and also restarting my browser

near vapor
#

I still suggest you to ask your relative to help

#

Because this kind of thing may takes hours if it's just me and you doing it

#

Give those solutions to your relative, they would know how to do it (I hope)

pure walrus
near vapor
#

I see

#

Hmm

#

I guess you will need to ask the ISP to help then

#

ISP = Internet service provider

pure walrus
#

will try

#

restarting my router. will not be able to respond for a while

near vapor
#

๐Ÿ‘

pure walrus
#

IM IN

#

what is this dumb implementation of attempt cool down if i can just close the window and open another one just fine

near vapor
#

said like a real hacker

pure walrus
#

i just close and reopen the tab
boom
no more cooldown

near vapor
#

in 90's movie

#

You can also do a Shift+F5 to refresh I think

pure walrus
near vapor
#

Be careful with it, yeah? It's not that clear

#

You have to click through a few menus and find where they are at

pure walrus
#

hmmm

#

look like 5Ghz is on

near vapor
#

This might be a router that choose which one to broadcast depends on distance

#

turn off 5Ghz for now and test

#

Tbh I don't like this solution but it is one of the thing you have to try

#

the reason is because this will affect every other devices, while it's only to fix your Switch

pure walrus
#

quick news

#

now im on my phone

#

turn out this is not a good idea

near vapor
#

Hmm?

pure walrus
#

the internet crashed

near vapor
#

What did you change though?

pure walrus
#

just turn off the 5g

#

now i am trying to turn it back on using my mobile data

near vapor
#

It should not cause much issue though. Try to restart your router?

pure walrus
#

bruh

near vapor
#

If you are connecting through your mobile data you can't connect to the router

#

Just connect back to that wifi and go through the router's setting page again

pure walrus
#

but i cannot connect to my router

#

and wifi

near vapor
#

You don't need internet to fix it

#

it should have a Wifi, no?

pure walrus
#

i cant join it

near vapor
#

any error?

pure walrus
#

i meant

#

all of my device cant join it

#

not even the laptop

#

it just auto quit

near vapor
#

Delete that wifi from your laptop's network list and then try to join in again

#

you remember the password, right?

pure walrus
#

yeah

near vapor
#

Do that then

pure walrus
#

uh oh

#

nope still auto quit

#

my mobile data is going to run out soon

near vapor
#

Auto-quit, hmm

#

Well, you can still reset the router to factory setting

#

Darn, this is why I'd rather you to do it with someone who knows how to setup these things on the side

#

I can, but I'm not there, harder to do, especially when you lose internet

near vapor
#

Haha

#

Ok look, give me the name and brand of the router real quick

#

Reset to factory setting as in it will be reset to when it's new

#

there's no config on it

pure walrus
#

True online. oh right i forgot to mention im not in usa or europe

near vapor
#

Actually not ideal at all, since you will lose any config setup by the ISP

near vapor
pure walrus
#

brand model: ZXHN F688

near vapor
#

ZTE?

pure walrus
#

no?

near vapor
#

That's just the model number, not the brand

pure walrus
#

wait

#

right

near vapor
#

I'm asking because google only return ZTE as the brand

pure walrus
#

same

near vapor
#

This is how you do a factory reset

pure walrus
#

man, this might suck a bit

near vapor
#

Dude, I think it's best to just call the ISP and ask them for help

#

If I'm there, it would take like 15 mins

#

but as you can see, doing this through chat takes ages

pure walrus
#

well,

pure walrus
#

its F688

near vapor
#

ah it's the latter then

#

The Factory reset I posted earlier is correct, it's from that link

pure walrus
#

so follow instruction?

near vapor
#

Before you do this, I must repeat

#

This process will reset your router to factory setting, as in the setting it has right after it leaves the factory, a blank config with default setting

#

Doing so might reset whatever your ISP has done

#

Sometime this won't change anything

#

But eh, if your ISP has some special config, such as modem config, then it will be wiped

#

And in that case, you will need to contact the ISP so they can come and help set it up again

#

but if there's no special config then it will just work

pure walrus
#

i am not sure

near vapor
#

Either way, you can't avoid calling someone else who know how to set it up

pure walrus
#

if there is or not

near vapor
#

I dread helping these cases every time haha

pure walrus
#

๐Ÿ˜”

near vapor
#

It's up to you. You can do it now or wait till you can get a service man down to help.

pure walrus
#

i thought that with 2.4G on i can still aceess admin page

near vapor
#

Tbh same

pure walrus
near vapor
#

I'm not sure what went wrong

pure walrus
#

guess it will be all on my mobile instead

near vapor
#

Try deleting the wifi network on all the devices you have and re-add it

#

Maybe one of them will work

#

Strange, changing that setting shouldn't do something bad

#

unless...

#

let me check the manual

#

Your router looks like this?

pure walrus
#

yes

#

6attenna

near vapor
#

I can't find the manual with instructions for the web based config

#

Are you in Vietnam, btw?

pure walrus
#

no

#

Thailand

near vapor
#

South East Asia, I see

#

Well, just a guess

#

timezone and all

pure walrus
#

i cannot call the isp rn

near vapor
#

anyway, not much you can do now, you need to contact the ISP so they send out a repair/service technician

pure walrus
#

becausr its late

near vapor
#

Yeah you have to wait

pure walrus
#

and i have work to be done before midnight lol

near vapor
#

Sigh, this is why every time it comes to network config, I don't want to help, it can lead to quite a lot of trouble

pure walrus
#

so i will be preserving my mobile data now

near vapor
#

I hope that's enough

livid dew
#

if they have one obvs

near vapor
#

they only have laptop

livid dew
#

will if they got ethernet they can turn on 5ghz again

near vapor
#

and I doubth they have an ethernet cable haha

livid dew
#

@pure walrus you got ethernet cable ?

near vapor
#

It's strange that turning off 5Ghz caused this though, I wonder why

#

any idea?

pure walrus
#

still dark all around

#

but

#

surprisingly isp is still working

#

they are doing isp thing and will contact me in a moment

near vapor
#

can you take over for a bit, @livid dew I'm busy in a raid

#

oh ISP can come eh? Nice nice

#

Let them do that, then

#

a lot of IS can work overnight

livid dew
#

Ill try but my knowledge isnt the best but thought ethernet cable suggestion would help

near vapor
#

it would, yep

near vapor
#

Although I'd rather wait for the technician to come down to help, but the reason why we mentioned the ethernet cable is that you can connect your laptop/pc directly to the router and it will connect without wifi @pure walrus

#

You need a laptop/computer with ethernet port though

pure walrus
#

welp im back

pure walrus
#

my internet is not compromised anymore

#

they whacked my wifi from mixed into 2seperate wifi

#

still cant connect to my switch

near vapor
#

Did you ask them to test other methods?

pure walrus
#

they did not come

#

they just restarted it from their center

near vapor
#

I see

#

The Switch couldn't connect to both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz?

pure walrus
#

5G isnt showing up

#

but i think because the router is still restarting

near vapor
#

More like your Switch couldn't see it

#

Restarting may take like 5 mins, not that long

pure walrus
#

yep

#

all and all, better than losing internet connection

near vapor
#

Your Switch issue hasn't been fixed though

pure walrus
#

the 2.4 one is still unjoinable
while my switch cant seem to acknowledge the 5G wifi existance
