#Data transfer from MicroSD card (on my Switch 1) to the upcoming Switch 2

The thing is, you can't use your SD card from Switch 1. If you want to transfer all of your data, screenshots etc. you will need to do it manually through your Switch 1
Bad news is, if you transfer data etc. from Switch 1 to Switch 2, your Switch 1 will factory reset
Save data is never stored on the MicroSD card, it's on the console's memory, so that will be transferred by default with the system transfer. Digital games that are stored in your MicroSD card won't get transferred so you have to redownload them.
The Switch 2 can read your regular MicroSD card to load screenshots from the Switch 1, it just won't give you additional storage unless you get a MicroSD express card.
Good to know regarding save data.
I think I can free up some space with removing Fortnite off my Switch (I now play that game on PC)
This should allow me to easily get all screenshots internally and then some on my Switch 1, ready for easy data transfer to my Switch 2.
@grave badge I did a double check and I have way more than the 1,000 screenshot limit that the Switch 1 supports natively.
I am hopeful that I can for the time being, move my screenshots from my MicroSD card to my PC and once my system transfer is complete I can at least easily put back the screenshots on my MicroSD card so it can briefly be used as a middleman to get them natively on my Switch 2.
there is a step during the system transfer process to insert the switch one microSD card into the switch to the transfer your screenshots and videos, but using the computer as a middleman should work as well
