trying to emulate stuff but i can't bind any keys because a bunch of the buttons on the switch pro controller send a bunch of inputs the emulator is picking up that i'm definitely not making myself. this is a new controller and doesn't do anything like this when i've plugged it in to my actual switch dock

i've tried the hori pro controller as well but that has a different issue, in that it piggybacks most of its inputs off keyboard inputs for some reason? and of course start is automapped to escape which forcecloses the emulator

pcsx2

#

getting around to god hand finally

#

this is the controller test window

#

not pressing anything on the controller but buttons 0-7 flicker on and off constantly

#

if i try to bind anything it'll immediately bind it to button 0 or 1

#

the way it's supposed to work is that you select the ps2 control you want to bind and then hit the key you want to bind it to

#

what device do you run your emulator on?

odd ruin
#

windows 10

#

is there some driver i'm missing

#

i've looked around

unreal bobcat
#

wired or bluetooth?

odd ruin
#

wired

#

i didn't bother with bluetooth functionality for this pc

unreal bobcat
#

weirdly enough i remember something like wired needing an extra driver in this case. let me see if i can find info on that again

#

are you using betterjoy?

odd ruin
#

i saw a video that said to install it

#

didn't seem to do anything

unreal bobcat
#

well it makes it so your controller is being recognized as an xinput device

#

which i assume the emulator needs

odd ruin
#

well i tried it again and there's no effect

#

0-7 are still sending random inputs

unreal bobcat
#

mind telling me what you did, just to make sure

odd ruin
#

opened betterjoy and got it to recognise the controller

#

hit locate to confirm and it did vibrate

#

restarted pcsx2

#

it's still doing it

#

this is all happening after a full system reboot too

unreal bobcat
#

could you check out a gamepad tester to see if it's an issue with the emu or the controller

odd ruin
#

it's the controller

#

it's spazzing out like crazy on the tester site

unreal bobcat
#

if you look under devices, what does windows tell you

#

i mean what controller does it tell you you have

odd ruin
#

xbox360

#

the tester sites say this as well

#

although windows settings calls it the pro controller

#

as opposed to control panel

unreal bobcat
#

do you have steam open?

odd ruin
#

yes

unreal bobcat
#

mind trying it with steam closed? i heard of it messing with this kind of stuff before. not sure if there's any truth behind that, but it won't hurt to try

odd ruin
#

no effect

unreal bobcat
#

it's not very elegant, but can you run the emu through steam?

odd ruin
#

still not working

#

now the controller is barely even able to connect to my pc

#

the emulator doesn't even recognise it any more

unreal bobcat
#

i think it's literally just windows being dumb with the gyro controls or something. i think playing it through steam could fix your issue, since steam is just better at handling controllers - but i know very little about steam, so i can't really help with specifics there sadly

#

but i think help for that should be relatively easy to find via google

odd ruin
#

running it through steam makes things worse somehow

#

it won't even recognise half the buttons on the pad if i run through steam

unreal bobcat
#

do you still have betterjoy turned on?

odd ruin
#

yeah

#

i've given up

#

i'm just using the hori controller and binding start to a key on my keyboard
