I enjoyed the SA-X and thought the bosses were a huge improvement over Super
but I couldnt get on board with the fact Adam will lock me in a tiny part of the map for the first few hours
when an outside force arbitarily decides where I can go on the map it doesnt feel great
like when I am exploring in Metroid I want to feel like i encountered a natural checkpoint that I need to return to later, not an arbitrary roadblock telling me I cant pass
Fusion was a fine game to play once and I enjoyed it but I will very likely never return to it
Just played Metroid at kiosk
Wow wow wow
Wow
Couldn’t believe my eyes when hey I was seeing
There’s some BS bosses in fusion
That stupid crab b*
Is it good?
Nightmare?
No nightmare is easy
Love nightmare
No it’s this crab thing
Nightmare the scariest mofo ever
His name is literally Nightmare
Flies around the screen and picks you up and squeezes and tries to kill you
Glorious
Rated E for everyone
You should go see it it so you can believe it for yourself
The YouTube uploads and streams we’ve been saying don’t really capture how the game looks and feels
Go to Walmart or Best Buy or whatever and play it on a real 4k display
The demo also lets you tweak several settings including adjusting the hud and switching to performance mode. I have no desire to play in performance mode if the game runs at a good 60
I played fusion when I was 8
Yeah that’s… what were in
?
You said Fusion, bro not Metroid Prime 4
It wasn't clear cause it came in the same comment
I said I just played Metroid at a kiosk and couldn’t believe it and you asked was it good then I said yes
My parents wouldn’t let me play Metroid fusion when I was a kid idk why that game specifically they had some issue with
Did you tell them it was literally Rated E
Did you know that split fiction has a lengthy segment that is an homage to Metroid prime pinball
Here’s a video I took of the intro sequence.
Unfortunately there’s a lot of noise and yammering in the background
I didn’t take a video. All I did was took a photo plus I don’t wanna give out any spoilers to everybody so
It’s not a spoiler it’s the same footage we’ve seen 100 times
It's a spoiler to me
If the demo is a spoiler to you then you shouldn’t be on this channel because this has been in multiple trailers and a treehouse
Ok
To be fair, there are people who don't like to see any part of the game before release
Those people don’t tend to use dedicated discord channels
I'm telling you that I do
You crazy
How, there's lots about Metroid that isn't prime 4
Because prime 4 is obviously the game that is coming out now and in a marketing cycle and being talked about
I’m not about to go off about return of Samus here
Ok but why you making a fuss that person was considerate about spoilers
People could if they want to
Because public information revealed in trailers does not fall under “spoilers” in this context
Just don’t
Doesn't hurt that guy was trying to be comsiderate
ITS NOT A SPOILER OMG
Hey at least he was trying to be nice
Is it Miles or Myles
Couldn’t tell you my guy
You should investigate
I’ve seen all variations
Miles Mackenzie
Myles Mackenzie
Myles McKenzie
Miles McKenzie
The more I hear the name “Mackenzie” the more I am convinced it’s not a real name
Oh well like I said I just took a photo that’s it
It is
Ik ik it’s just
I say this word a lot now
And it starts to feel like not a real word
Myles Mackenzie has been my identity for the last two weeks or so
Personally I'm still excited for this and look forward to taking Samus' new pet human out for walkies
One more week
hows it on your switch
Imagine how good future Metroid games would be if Fusion didnt screw the series up
Looks beautiful
Wha
I feel like since Fusion, every Metroid game has followed the philosophy of "We can't let the player break from the intended path too much"
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2025/11/metroid-prime-4-beyond-meet-the-team slightly spoilery if you dont want to know anything but these are translated from Nintendos official website
I’m watching stranger things season 4 and I noticed this guy
Are you screenshotting your phone? Lol
Yes !
For why tho
Download and post them. So they can ve zoomed
That’s a lot of work lol
Bro what?
I dont see screens on Nintendo today app. Just Nintendo app
Nintendo today doesn’t have an easy way to download photos just to share links
Today they are showing volt forge
Where are screens in Nintendo today?
Try the regular Nintendo app
Idk really what your3 talking about
Ok
Nintendo today is where they do marketing and promotion
I have that app but I dont see my screenshots in it
They show different little pictures and videos and switch them out daily
Oh it blacks it out?
I see my screenshots in the Nintendo app.
I dont see a screenshot section at all in the Nintendo today app
Idk

Metroid Prime™ 4: Beyond - amiibo - Samus
#NintendoToday
https://nintendo.today/s/akoPixCA
Here’s a longer look at the main theme of Metroid prime 4
I got the samus amiibo when I was in Japan
I got it on amazon
Music ripped from the official Japanese website for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
https://www.nintendo.com/jp/switch/bgw5a/index.html
OST for Fury Green
Yeah that’s on the website that’s been out
Actually the whole game is leaked now so that’s fun
Eh thats easy enough to ignore, game comes out in only a couple of days here
TWO DAYS TWO DAYS TWO DAYS
Rip, prime 4 80 metascore. The haters were a disgrace
This is a disgrace after 18 years of waiting and coming from the same studio that made the trilogy that got 90-97 metascores
You ||cannot turn Prime 4's hint system off||
All the naysayers turned out to be right. All the gripes people were complaining about, it ended up being true
Tanabe is done surely?
Why are we spamming meta score numbers in this chat can we not lol
This is cringe
Again this is very stupid
Art is about the personal experience and connection you have with media
It's a huge fall from grace for retro studios and the prime trilogy
Considered one of the greatest trilogy in gaming history
That’s really unfortunate that you allow the internet to color your experience like that
It just shows weak mindedness to a very high degree
My love and relationship with Metroid doesn’t come from what men on the internet think and say about it. It comes from my personal experience with these games
yes you should always judge a game on your own experience but if my biggest concern pre-release was, say, Myles being an annoying character thats overly hand-holdy, and that seems to have turned out to be true, its not completely unfair for someone to say that they dont like it
the issues I have with Metroid Prime 3 appear to have been amplified here, so it isnt wrong for me to say i currently have a negative perception of the game
it isnt about "letting people color my experience" because I can see for myself there are design decisions here I disagree with
also i need to say you seem to have issues with specifically straight men sharing their opinions on games
Just because a game got an 80 on metacritic or wherever it is people go to rate these things doesn't mean it's bad, an 80 means the games good yeah it might fall short of the older titles but that doesn't mean you won't enjoy it unless you're dead set on letting other peoples opinions dampen things for you
It actually doesn’t mean bad or good
It means nothing
Because the only person who matters is you
You are an individual and the purity or your relationship with art is the only thing that should matter
So letting the internet taint that is a disservice to yourself
yeah I agree, for me the reason I pick up a game is because I've seen something or a concept that appeals to my own personal tastes
I don't really care what others say online
A lot of my personal favourite games I've discovered this way, like Sin & Punishment, which is my favourite game on the Wii and N64
I don't care what others think
But from what has been mentioned in reviews, Prime 4 takes the aspects I hated in Prime 3 and makes them worse or at least doesnt improve them
The fact the game has reviewed worse than Prime 3 is worrying
That’s a pretty weak minded way to think about art
That you value men on the internet over your personal experiences
That’s incredibly worrying
what is it specifically with "men" by the way
You shouldn’t be “worried” about art. That’s absolutely a horrible mindset to approach media. You get what you put in and if you go in “worried” you will of course be dissappointed every time
That’s not what art is for
You have to approach art open minded and with the intention of trying to understand the artist and the art
you keep saying art but theres more to it than that
im absolutely entitled to be critical of certain design choices that may negatively impact my experience
Here’s probably the final photos we’re gonna get on Nintendo today
Unless they do the tower tomorrow which I don’t think they’ve done yet
yeah how much I enjoy the video game is the most important part
also you are very RosePieVA coded
?
thats the vibe i get here
I'm not a mod and I shouldn't be mini modding but I don't think you should throw shades at former users like that.
such a good game ||lol the other npc with the deciding on survival alone or being stuck next to Phil in a cubicle||
Metroid from what I’ve seen looks very beautiful and some of the music tracks I’ve heard sound lovely
I was never a crazy fan of Metroid music though I appreciate it atmospherically
But the tracks I’ve heard heard from Metroid prime 4 I would actually listen to
Oh really? Not even the music in Phendrana Drifts ?
I used to love that track, still among my favourite Metroid songs actually
Of course I like phendrana
And also um what’s it called
Torvus
But nothing like what I’ve heard for prime 4
||Volt forge||
Is sick
I love Torvus Bog, that's a great one
I refuse to click on any spoilers though
I want to go in fresh
First impressions are that this game is very good
Weren't you shitting on this game for months
Prime 4 right?
Watched it on YouTube. Pre order canceled
memory holed, obsfucate, will support whats popular in the moment and then everything is forgotten

Ooof awesome figure, jealous of you all, I'll be playing it on Monday as that's my next day off, can't wait to get into it
That one looks like the coolest one by a longshot
Whoa
Who’s already playing the game
I knew it was gonna be impressive but I guess not to this level
My favorite thing so far is:
||tricking the viola manufacturing plant into thinking you’re a wheel||
I’m good lol
Im doing a bunch of collectables before progressing the next part of the story and ||Myles has told me to get on with it and told me where to go TWICE. IM PLAYING HOW I WANT TO MYLES FUCK OFF||
||correct me if I’m wrong but Samus is kind of (not really) part Lamorn now||
MYLES ||FUCKING SHUT UP||
||YOU TELL ME WHERE TO GO WHEN IM DOING SIDE STUFF, YOU TELL ME WHERE TO GO WHEN IM ALREADY ON MY WAY AND YOU TELL ME WHERE TO GO WHEN IM ALREADY THERE, SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU LITTLE BASTARD||
You need to accept and appreciate miles
Love him, even
hes annoying
YEAH
that whole area is really cool

Prime 4 is a significant improvement over Metroid Prime 3.
Then why it got a 80 metascore
Prime 3 should be at like 65
So far I'd give Prime 4 a 75
I like it more than Prime 3 and Fusion but it's equal with with Zero Mission and Dread
Below AM2R, Prime 1, Super Metroid and Prime 2
They released at different times. Different market. Different standards.
Obviously
It's more so prime 4 added things people hate
Like the open world
And Myles
Sure man
You were complaining about the game before it even came out
That’s the world we live in unfortunately
Im enjoying Prime 4 a lot, just bought it today and I was immersed pretty much from the get go, I dont think Myles is as bad as people are making him out to be, just feels like the internet overreacting to something that isn't that big a deal
I'm enjoying it more than Prime 3 if that's a discussion that people seem to be having, but it's not like I dislike that game anyway
its a significant improvement from Prime 3
I never played 3
Prime 2 is my favourite as well, I'm hoping it gets a remaster, be good if they added online function to the multiplayer as that mode is actually pretty good
Prime 2 is so underrated
They NEED to ||patch out the hint system. It SUCKS||
Who else thinks of the pirates of the Caribbean song when they hear the Metroid prime 4 theme
Idk if kenji Yamamoto composed for this game but if so this is him at his best and if not then damn they got some great talent
I have a ton I want to say after I beat the game, I'm very nearly done
metroid is always a good series in terms of technical performance.
I'll wait till I'm done and maybe give it a few days for others to finish
damn already finished it
and what brightness you guys have it on. i did as the game stated but the rooms are dark as hell
I dislike Metroid Prime 4 because the youtube channels Skill Up and Lord Frogmire told me to dislike it
No it's not. Wdym.
You were shit talking prime 4 for the longest time when the game wasn't event out
It’s not an improvement on anything it’s just a different game yall need to snap out of this mindset
Question for anyone who has finished the game
Does the game let you go back to your last save and 100% the game?
||Ezra gave me this whole speech and acted all freaky about it being a point of no return so I just wanted to make sure||
Its generally seen as the weakest of the trilogy
I think you need to stop paying attention to what is “seen”
Dudes on the internet are so worthless
Just tune them out and see art for what it is
but it is often considered the worst of the trilogy
Therefore it's underrated because I think it's the best
Yeah I agree, rn it's blown past 3 for me. Really like 4
I really wasn't a fan of the hypermode system in 3 tho, I think it really messed with the balancing of combat
Yeah enemies had too much health for normal combat
But when you used hypermode you just kill them instantly
yeah
one of the only things i dont love in prime 4 is sol valley but i think it gets better as the game goes on
alot of the things to find and unlock in that area cant really be done until the later parts of the game
nah not yet, im currently working on 100% items before i do the final area
Yeah I just copied a save and beat the game at 84%
ah nice
It’s um… interesting
ive heard the endings a bit weird
… yeah to say the least
without fully going into it, is it more the story or the gameplay thats odd?
I don’t want to say that in a public chat lol
ah fair, could spoiler it?
||the story||
ah ok
im certainly interested in seeing what happens, ive heard people talk about it alot
Yeah
one take away i have from the game is i hope that retro doesnt get scared off from trying things like vehicles again in future games, i think they really nailed the feel of the bike
I really really love the Samus crew
They were very cute and endearing
Especially sarge and private
But all of them I really enjoyed even Mackenzie that weird f*ck
yeah i like them as well
92 metascore
It's still usually considered the weakest of the trilogy
Granted that's likely due to the fact it released 3 years after Prime 1 on the same console
It's the least played Prime game as well
Notice how he just wont respond now
I recall him shitting on the bike. The open world aspect and how that goes against Metroid prime. How he just wants another prime 2. All those complaints before the game came out
Now he just glazing the game when the game is actually out for once 💀
This is what I tell everyone. Actually wait till the game is out before shitting on it
what you have to understand is that a lot of people just want to feel apart of something, even if it means contradicting themselves they just go where they think the consensus is. Also, when people on the internet repeat things that arent original ideas they have trouble defending those ideas so they just run and pretend like they never said them
Bro is probably highly influenced by youtubers and streamers like a lot of this cooked generation.
He's gen z
So you're not gen z?
No
Well I'm gonna guess millennial
I wasn't raised on internet celebs to tell me how to think and communicate
Back then I didn't even have Internet
Or if I did it was the family desktop computer which we only have one of inside the house and my sister hogged it all the time
I remember that one desktop computer was the only internet access we have in the house
Man when I had the Wii, I used TF out of the Wii internet channel
Cause I didn't have smartphones or tablets that was the only internet device I had for myself
I got thousands of hours on there
Actually no. I formed my own opinions. And to be honest, ALL of the things I was worried about are issues with the game.
how
you mean the music stuff
I have never heard that once
Also I need to say there is more nuance to opinions on games than just "it's good" or "it's bad" I enjoyed my time with Prime 4 but that was despite the fact there are still things I didn't enjoy about the experience, which happened to be design decisions I criticised when they were first revealed
Prime 4 is definitely a game I am very opinionated about
And now you're saying the game is good
I buy amiibos for the collection not for the in game. I have Zelda amiibos and I never ever use that shit in zelda
This is why I hate tottentoantes. That shit doesn't give you any nuances at all between the reviews. It's just "fresh" or "rotten".
Well a 2/10 is different from a 5/10. A 7/10 is different from a 10/10. Putting it between just "fresh" and "rotten" is so dumb and I don't get why everyone and their mama preach rottentomatoes as the gospel
Who even uses Rotten Tomatoes
Most people on discord apparently
They shit on metacritic but praise rottentomatoes for some reason
Metacritic at least give you the nuances. They don't do "good" or "bad'
Like you said there's nuances in prime 4. It's not just good or bad. There's different elements that works good and doesn't work as good. It's all a bunch of different things that can't just describe the whole as "good" or "bad"
My thoughts on Prime 4 as an immediate reaction after finishing it are that I had fun with it and enjoyed a ton of stuff in it, but there are areas, particularly surrounding new concepts they've went for that just don't work well, some of which are very basic oversights
So the things you have gripes with pre release are still gripes but it's still things you like about the game?
Talk about it, I want to see what gets denied
I enjoyed the driving I'll give it that, but alot of the stuff around the characters and desert I just don't think worked well.
Its an objective flaw with the game design that I cannot turn the hint system off, I continually get the same hint if I don't immediately make progress and sometimes hints can activate like 30 seconds apart
There is a "turn off tutorial" option, which turns off the game telling you which button to press to use a newly obtained upgrade
What it do
You cannot turn off hints
Not gonna lie i was sat there just vibing with the title screen for a good 5 minutes before I started
Ive only had 1 session on it yesterday, if i have time tonight I might boot it up to finish the area i was in and if i dont then its back to zero mission for me
If god is kind and cancels work tomorrow then I can have another all dayer playing Prime 4
Yo can you tell me why the amiibo is necessary
I mean those seem optional
And not important
This is a massive flaw that harms the experience regardless of what you are "supposed" to do. The solution is ||let me turn the hint system off, not "just go along with it" I felt like throwing my switch out my window when Myles told me the same thing for a 3RD TIME||
||its especially bad when I'm literally doing what he says and he STILL chips in once or twice more to tell me what to do. The game treats me like I'm an idiot who can't comprehend the idea of just exploring||
Doesn't seem that significant to me tbh
You can do without ||bike skins and custom music||
||I would still prefer getting lost to following what feels like a youtube guide||
I really get the feeling the devs wanted to ||more heavily involve the Troopers and have the desert be more significant, but had to hold back for the sake of still having a Metroid game||
Hell yeah I've finished the game
||i think i heard that the music things actually just an early unlock, not an exclusive||
The user scores is 8.5 people actually like the game
Pre order canceled
8.5 is a bit high I would go for a 7
You said the game is good while giving it a 7?
7 is a score for a good game
there is a REALLY good game somewhere in there but the game doesnt get to show it much
It's kinda mid
I wouldn't call it good
It's would be a yellow on metacritic
well it isnt a bad score
It's not good
8.5 is good
no I would say 7 is the beginning of the good category
like 6.5 is for games that are average or just ok
like I said the game could be a 7.5 or 8 but theres a bunch of stuff that quite frankly are basic oversights that bring the game down
i was going for 100% but i missed ||the scan for the shit carvex shoots at you lmaoooo|| (early game shit)
i got the ||vines|| and thought i was good lol
oh uhhhh i started up hard mode, lemme check
doesnt look like it? my scan percentage is low again at the start of hard mode
hmm maybe, im in ||fury green rn but tbf the games still in "tutorial mode" so ill see after i get the bike maybe?||
yeah they could totally do that as well
ill just have to play the entire game again to get my 100% rewards
i just need to get it done, i was so close on my first run
didnt even clock that i fucked it up until the very end once i got everything else
a true metroid prime experience
imma throw out a guess and say Metroid 6 -> prime remaster/spin off -> prime 5
im thinking metroid 6 could be as early as next year as well
lmaooo yeah
you reckon?
oh yeah i think that is 100% setting up the next game
i REALLY hope ||that we can save them||
so whats the overall consenses, i have to wait for my weekend to buy but im hearing people dog on the game
games really fun, if you like the other prime games i reckon you'll like this one
I really want to dive into it more. But I gotta get past a final on Wednesday
What because I gave a game a score out of 10 that goes against the general consensus
its a perfectly reasonable way to rate a game in comparison to other games
Sonic Heroes is not good art 😂
or maybe there are legitimate objective flaws with the game design
Having a hint system that gives me the same hint 3 times in 10 minutes that i cannot disable is objectively bad
like "Sonic 06 is broken and doesnt work properly" is not a subjective thing its just an objective fact
yes it is
It proves the developers do not think the world design is good enough to naturally guide me through it with little interference
how can you not see that its objectively bad to not let me turn the hint system off
I know it was intentional but its STILL an objectively bad design decision because the game treats the player like an idiot who cant navigate their way through the game
no its bad because the game actively discouraging me from exploring. I can be off collecting items and Myles will continue to call all the time telling me to get on with the story but that's not how Metroid should be designed
Metroid is all about exploration, so when a Metroid game is actively discouraging that its objectively bad
I got the same hint 3 times within 10 minutes, thats is annoying especially when I want to discover stuff on my own
im sorry but if the next Sonic game was discouraging me from trying to go fast and improve at that stages and I said "this doesnt feel like im playing a Sonic The Hedgehog game, therefore i dislike it" that wouldnt be an unfair criticism
sorry I want the Metroid Prime game to feel more like a Metroid Prime game
and no you cant say I thought the hint system was bad because "I wasnt playing the way the devs intended" because Early Space Jump wasnt intended in Prime 1 but I still do that and it makes the game better
ah yes art is going extinct because MilesPrower on the r/nintendoswitch discord server didnt enjoy the hint system in Metroid
so what does that have to do with the Hint System in Prime 4 being bad
has anyone else noticed the lack of rooms that have more than 3 exits?
||what I mean is that in Prime 1 and Prime 2 there seems to be more examples of bigger split path rooms you can open up throughout the game providing shortcuts or new parts of the area to explore the more upgrades you get that all split off from the one room. There seems to be noticibly less of these in Prime 4 (excluding the desert ofc)||
ill show you what i mean
||In general Prime 2's first area has more POIs and multiple ways for the player to navigate the area which open up the more upgrades you get, Prime 4's is more straight-liney with a lack of cuts, quick ways to get from A to B and overall a less "connected" design||
ignore the awful writing
yeah youre right actually
||Ice Belt is my favourite location its beautiful and feels very eerie and unsettling||
oh?
that ||intro part with the wolves was confusing||
||when you are at 15 health it ends. I was so confused||
I really liked ||watching places like volt forge and ice belt come alive when you power them back up||
Since the SleaPeach dude is gone, can I still talk about how prime 4 only got 1 point higher than the much reviled Metroid other m.
4 is good though
Im enjoying 4 a lot, much more than I did Other M
Prime 1 was apparently some other shooter first and was changed during development.
wait what happened
#public-modlog
i see
Im not too surprised, Retro Studios was made up of former Aklaim devs at the time who made the Turok games on N64
Well the founder got fired by Nintendo
Also they were planning on making 4 different games. Like a vehicle combat game, an action adventure game, a sports game. Something like that
Miyamoto made them focus on one game and made it be Metroid cause one of their 4 games reminded him of that
I do think Other M is one of those games where technically in isolation its a playable decently fun game but when you put it in the context of the series as a whole it makes sense fans of the series may not like the mischaracterisations and strange gameplay
Typical during acquisitions
It because he did things I don't think I can talk about here cause of how inappropriate it is
And remember Nintendo is especially a very G-PG company
Well even better, then
I know who youre talking about, its a miracle Prime even got made after that
I read an article about it. Retro was one of the most toxic environments and it's one of the biggest miracles they made one of the greatest games of all time
I recall it mentioned despite low morale the employees push through because they legitimately want to make one of the greatest video games ever no matter how toxic and shit their work environment was
They were making some other game and then Nintendo crashes in and was like "this is a metroid game now"
They did that with Starfox Adventures as well, originally it was going to be Dinosaur Planet before Miyamoto stepped in
It looks like it mightve been scifi shooter called metaphor
Shit had amazing graphics for the n64
Wut
Yeah it was one of those games that had development moved to Gamecube along with Eternal Darkness, hoping both come to NSO
Star Fox Adventures was a letdown
And animal crossing
I just want to say Prime 4 has really fun bosses
I just fought the one in Flare pool and damn
It was pretty wild
This game is really good
almost there
There doesnt seem to be a point in exploring the desert before you get all the keys
shrines and items
Which you can get all of them in one go once you’re doing the mech parts gathering
Honestly only the super thunder shot ended up being a worth pick up
Those 6 items should have just been ||placed throughout the world||
also remember when they had cool names
well yeah but then you dont have all the shot types for the bulk of the game
oh yeah i think alot of the stuff in that area should have been, i think the reason it isnt is because retro ||thought the bike was way cooler than it actually is|| so everything is ||in the area where you ride the bike around||
Prime 2 has a brilliant example of creating a sense of non-linearity with its item placements
once you get the Seeker Missiles, you CAN just go to Alpha Blogg and complete the entirety of Torvus Bog. BUT the player isnt just restricted to that
sure you do have to go to Alpha Blogg to progress the story, but the game rewards players who take the time to explore with these new powerups they got since beating Agon Wastes by allowing the player to travel back to get the Darkburst from Agon Wastes using the new Seeker Missiles upgrade
this stuff is why I find Metroid Prime 2 to be the best Prime game
Yeah prime 2s my goat as well
I gotta play it
one of Prime 4's biggest flaws is that it ||doesnt really have any of these sub-areas or parts of areas that open up when you revisit||
||I do not just mean one more room opening, i mean an entire sub-area to explore||
yeah i agree
i think what made that stuff so easy for the other games compared to 4 is that ||1 and 2 for example had whole areas that unlock when you backtrack and unlock new elevators for faster travel between areas||
but in 4 ||since you enter and exit from that same place in each area it doesnt really have that||
Yo I may get this game for xmas. Is it really that good
Im really liking it
Close to finishing Prime 4 now
92% items collected
Tomorrow will be the final stretch
Also just found out that they planned for Prime 3 to be or at least have an open world but couldn't due to the Wii's limitations
So it feels like they may have been sitting on a lot of ideas that they originally planned for Prime 4 for a while kind of like with Metroid Dread
Im finishing it over the next day or so
Why were you shit talking it before it came out
thought you meant Prime 2
Metroid prime moment
The art direction is some of the best ive seen in a while
Yeah it looks great
I wonder what they could do with switch 2 hardware lol
Yeah ok curious to see what they do with the next one
I can’t find the screenshots channel so here’s the results screen
Beat it on Saturday, I’ll take some time to do hard mode next
Whats different
It's mainly DMG stuff, you take more and deal less. You also don't refill ammo at save stations
Im still doing that damn crystal quest
Ah lol yeah it takes a bit
Totally unnecessary
I just keep going to the desert and refilling the thing. Back and forth
It isnt fun
I was gonna rate the game a 9/10. But the crystals make it an 8
Yeah I think the series in general needs to give up on the end game hunts
Not the first time they've done it?
An end game hunt? Nah each prime game has one
Usually it's something like "find and scan 10 keys around the map" and you get a little hint for each one
One positive thing to note about Prime 4's end game hunt is that you can start it the moment you're in the open world with Vi-O-La whereas with all the others you can't really begin looking until getting to the last 10% of the game
Honestly I’m glad about that
By the time the fetch quest started I was already halfway through the blue crystal meter
For leaning extremely towards hand holding at least I’m not wasting time being confused on what to do
I love Prime 1 but definitely not the chozo artifacts
Yeah this game has the easiest hunt
How do you even effectively start it? I ran into green crystals every chance I could and still had to go on runs over and over to meet the requirement at the end
As the game goes on more and more crystals spawn
Iirc ||you can't actually finish the quest until you have gotten all the keys||
I just made sure to get any crystals I could along the way, there were times were I wasn't in the mood to backtrack through a previous area so instead I just explored Sol Valley and during that I found a lot of crystals.
Uh-oh time for me to get the fuck out of here and go finish the game already
Getting them along the way didn't help
Unless theres a maximum amount you can carry
Because I could've been at max and had no idea
They might stop you from getting more once you've reached a certain threshold where you then need to go hand those in, but I'm not 100% certain on that
I didnt hand any in until the story made me to
You CAN start Prime 1's immediately after getting missiles but a first time player is unlikely to know this or just happen to encounter most of them as they go through the game
Good to know, the earliest one I know off that I can get is the one in Magmoor once you acquire the Space Jump
Finally finished Prime 4 too, I really enjoyed it even if the ending is a bit wtf. I immediately started a new game on hard mode after checking out some of the art I unlocked because damn, I just need more of this
99% items
96% scans
Missed some lore and part of one of the bosses, no idea where the last item I was missing was
I remember having the same problem with Prime 3 with missing items
you can get the other one in Magmoor immediately
I handed them in from time to time, or when the inventory told me I had to
I imagine theres a fair bit of sequence breaking in Prime but that's never been what drew me into the series, good to know that it's there though if I'm ever in the mood to play it a different way
its not a sequence break you can just get it
I dont know whether firing 2 missiles is intended to break the rock but it does
ive always headcanoned that its just a small thing one of the devs thought it would be cool to add in
Control Tower can also be gotten the first time you go to the room if you position yourself and jump at the right angle, then fire a missile at the right moment
i never noticed the inventory telling me to
The mission tab in your inventory will glow green I think when you collect a certain amount of green crystals, if you go over to that screen they'll be a message on the green crystal saying to go deposit them
It happens every time you reach a certain amount and each time you do it you get something for it, it's generally worth going your way out to do
It might just be that you didn't collect enough until near the end
I have a ||Narrative issue with the green crystals. More than any other "artifact quest" in the series does this present itself as optional until the story decides its required||
I agree with that, it's really just me been ocd that made me go out my way to get them while exploring
||even the fact i get upgrades from it just tells me that this is optional, I really had no way of knowing whether I need them until the very end||
I think this is the 2nd worst ||end game quest in the series||
Makes sense. I just didnt pay attention to it
I wish i would have because I ended hating doing that fetch quest at the end
Honestly they should really just drop those quests from the series because they've always felt like padding to me
Yep
New metroid fan
So my first one
But it reminded me of that damn triforce quest in wind waker
Prime 1's is pretty decent on a returning playthrough
Overall I enjoyed this game, it has a very unique tone and art style that separates it from the main trilogy, I'm looking forward to seeing what Retro do next
Liked it more than Prime 3 but still not as much as Prime 1 and 2
Already enjoying my second playthrough, hopefully I can reach 100% items and logs this time
agree with that. My ranking is 2, 1, 4, 3
Same
I would love a Metroid Prime game that genuine branches of progression
I feel like they've abandoned that design philosophy,
I still haven't played Dread but I heard that's quite linear too
Prime 1 was the last one that had any of that
Prime 2 had an element of still heavily rewarding exploration but you could not progress until youd done the specific story thing you need to do
again the Darkburst example is really good you can go all the way back to Agon to get a new section to explore and get the Darkburst but you cant progress the story from there
Much as I love Prime 2 my main issue with is that it's formula is very close to Zeldas in the sense that you need to gather keys to unlock the temples and each area you visit pretty much functions like a Zelda dungeon
It's been years since I played it but that's my memory of it, I still hope they remaster it
OH MY GOD imagine if you could use the Darkburst or Seeker Missiles to access the Agon Wastes to Sanctuary Fortress elevator early and could explore parts of Sanctuary Fortress before Lower Torvus
of course that would be a situation where the keys arent mandatory completion items
I thought you needed the super missiles
Actually I don’t know how many you can get during your first visit
Other than the one in the tower at phendrana
Control Tower, Missiles in Magmoor, Space Jump in Magmoor
Space jump is the one in the chamber?
Yeah they're one of the main downsides in each prime game
They just range from very annoying to kinda annoying
So just beat the first boss on hard mode
And it was really fun
Also discovered that one of the rooms in Fury Green will give you extra info on a boss if you revisit it after you beat one
Which I completely missed before
I think Prime 4 might have some of the best bosses in the series
Yeah same
its definitely a mixed bag. i got 99% of the items rippppp. new save file playthough unfortunately.
So heres the confusing part. ||When you defeat the Omega Griever and return to that room, it shows a completely different boss when scanning. was that a scrapped or hidden boss. Galvanax||
a lot of missed potential, but i still enjoyed the game. questionable decisions with the amiibo though
I'd agree with that. There's 1 area of the game that's just incredible then the rest is eh
I think the desert just kills the game
There is not one thing the desert does better than Temple Grounds
||the boss for the sand was underwhelming. Just a repeat of another boss. It should have been unique. Or another underground dungeon like the side shrines ||
I do hope they get another chance or take their time. They have the foundation now, it’s only improvements and now the switch 2 exclusive
I hope we get a Prime 2 Remaster next as a Switch 2 exclusive
And Prime 5 having moments where the player genuinely has multiple paths of progression would be nice
And not just via sequence breaks
Yeah I'd agree with that
||the whole time I was under the assumption there'd be a boss I could just happen to encounter in the desert but no||
||The showcased boss was the guardian of the mines and the one you were supposed to fight. It was killed by the omega griever however||
||You can see that due to the larmon platform already being there when you reach the chamber, and it also explains why the omega griever had the power bomb upgrade inside of it in the first place||
That bit of storytelling was the thing I liked the most about the mines, which overall wasn’t a good experience overall
||The entire area is a carbon copy of phazon mines, which goes on to be even more messy with the fake out deaths of the gf troopers||
can i just say that ||the story in Prime 4 SUCKS and isnt even the best Prime story, Prime 2 is much better||
I didn’t find the story interesting up until the twist in the ending
||Not the sylux one, that i dislike lol||
||That makes sense now but soo lame. You can still fit that boss as a secret encounter in the overwworld||
I liked the mines a lot
Ice belt and the mines were my favourite areas
Im looking forward to going through them again on hard
I think the next Metroid Prime game has to abandon trying to have a more involved story
and Tanabe should be nowhere near writing anything
he doesnt seem to get that hes making a subseries that exists in a pre-established canon and he cant just have his own version of what he personally wants the Federation to be like
Its a basic general consensus. Ain't that deep bro
Random two weeks late reply from both of yall
I guess ignoring you is better
Dont really get why so many people pay attention to these sites, its almost as if nobody knows what they like and need the internet to tell them
Probably would have preferred it when it's a two weeks old comment
Perfect. I can do that
What do you think of prime 4 anyways
I dont think theres anything wrong with finding out the general consensus on a product to make informed buying decisions
I like it a lot, it has some flaws but I dont think that ruins the experience the way youtubers are making it out to.
I think it has the best bosses in the series and they made returning to areas youve already explored fun and interesting.
Visuals and music are incredible too and gyro feels good too, its a technical showcase for the Switch 2.
Im replaying atm on hard and still having fun so to me its great, not my favourite in the series by still really good, Id put it above Prime 3 and I like that one
Thats fine but its when people fixate on it that I dont get
yeah i think i feel the same way, its got its problems but its still good and id place it above 3
prime games are fun
Kirby Air Riders got a god damn higher metascore than Metroid Prime 4
80 for Kirby and 79 for Prime 4
Prime 4 literally got the same metascore as the much hated Other M
I can guarantee you that Prime 4 is much better than Other M
Prime is a lot better than air riders
gang
This track slaps even though I never played metroid prime series
Prime 4 has some bangers for sure, Volt Forge and Ice Belt might have my favourite tracks, a lot of the boss themes are really good too
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has sold over 1 million copies, Nintendo confirms nintendoeverything.com/metroid-prime-4-beyond-has-sold-over-1-million-copies-nintendo-confirms/
Okay...the ending of Metroid Prime 4. WTF.
Literally same reaction (assuming WTF is a bad thing in this case)
I'd assume the next game is Samus going to find them or something
So i'm fighting Meta Ridley and notice i'm missing one rocket expansion...........
I hope so!
https://youtube.com/shorts/scWJzX6Halw GBA - Metroid Zero Mission is my favorite 2D game of all time.
Metroid: Zero Mission is not just a remake, it's the blueprint for how to make one right.
I've been playing though Zero Mission again over the past few days and it really brings life into my RG35xxsp and any other retro handheld I have it on. Honestly this might be the best 2D game ever made. Between its tight controls, impressive visuals, and ...
Should I play Prime Remastered with the hint system on or off? Is it too hard without it?
uhhh id keep it off, can always turn it back on after if you need
Keep it off
If I get lost later and turn it on will it work immediately?
Dread is my fav
Why can't I see where the door goes I have the map
The map doesnt always show everything
It'll show you a big chunk of an area but theres a lot you need to explore yourself
nah, it usually only gives you a hint after some time has passed
need to actually explore to see where that leads
Peeps quick question. Is Prime 4 a game that requires Internet connection? Imma be going to a trip and thinking of buying prime 4 but wanna know if I need wifi for it?
No wifi needed
I really want Switch 2 versions of Dread and Prime remastered
give me mouse controllers on prime remastered
i swear whenever im board i just race around the desert on the bike and use 120fps while doing it to
People misunderstood Sol Valley, it's not meant to be your main area of exploration, it's meant to be a pallette cleanser for after you finish one of the areas you actually explore. You ride around, break crystals, get some upgrades and once you're good head to the next area you actually explore
well i think its a cool area to just ride around
Oh I wasn't coming at you, there's just been a lot of criticism around it, I'm glad you enjoy it, Beyond definitely has some good things about it that got ignored when it came out
people just see it one way or the other lol
The thing with gamers nowadays is that if there is one feature of a new game they do not like, they harp on it and make it come across as if the entire game is awful just because of that one feature they do not like.
The levels in the game were great overall. Was the desert truly needed? No, but it didn’t ruin the game for me.
It's a 7/10 game but the prime trilogy were 9-10 games
So it's a huge disappointment
I hope Nintendo still make a prime 5 and realize the lackluster sales isn't because we don't want Metorid prime games. We still want Metroid prime games but it need to meet the standards of the original trilogy especially after 18 years
100%
These are my feelings on it too, I think it has the best bosses and combat in the Prime series, great visuals, music, atmosphere, I like the way the ammo system was streamlined from Prime 2 and how they reinterpreted the lasso controls from the wii's motion controls to a controller while still making it feel impactful.
Exploration was where the game takes a hit for me, each area is good but not large enough and while Sol Valley was fine I'd still rather have an interconnected map than an open one, same feelings with the fed troopers where they were fine but if it came down to having them or not having them I would always choose not having them simply because they detract from the feeling of isolation I enjoy in these games
i will say, i dont think this is something they'd look at and assume "people dont like metroid prime"
Yeah it's Metroid, low sales haven't stopped them before
Yeah they were never considered to end permently like fire emblem did pre awakening
How do y'all think I would enjoy Metroid Prime if I loved Super Metroid and Samus Returns?
Also metroid dread scares me lol
Well prime is first person so it's different from 2d
That’s why I’m hesitant. I am intrigued by the mouse controls on Metroid Prime 4, are those worth it? Does 3d metroid still feel like metroid or is it more exploration than learning movement mechanics and discovery
Metroid Prime is inspired by Super Metroid so you may like it, even though it looks like an fps it's really a lot more about exploration and puzzle solving than it is accuracy and movement
Positioning can be important but bosses and more challenging enemies are more puzzle orientated, it doesn't play like say Doom or Halo where movement and accuracy are key
Yeah my aim sucks. So closer to OoT in terms of Zelda?
Yeah a little bit you have a lock on mechanic that you can use at all times a bit like Navi so aiming shouldn't be an issue
There's only one enemy you can't lock on to at least not until you get a certain upgrade and you won't encounter them until muuuch later in the game but other than that its a game with exploration and puzzles in mind
If you like Super Metroid go with the first one, the remaster they made is very faithful to the original, after that if you want more then yeah try out Prime 4 although that ones structured more like OoT than Super Metroid
The original Metroid Prime is a stone cold classic at this point, so definitely a good jumping on point
ok
if you like 2d metroid id say that you'll like prime as well, prime is just metroid but in a 3d space
prime 1 especailly really tries to just take everything that made super metroid work and make it 3d
best 2d game in the serise?
Dread
