I'm encountering an issue with transferring my save data over to a new microSD card. Gonna get real specific because it's starting to get on my nerves lol. And apologies if this is the wrong place for this, I'm new to Discord!
So far:
- I transferred the data from the old card onto my computer (Mac), and it's all sitting in a folder on my desktop called "Nintendo", per Nintendo's own instructions to transfer data.
- I put the new card into the Switch, and had the Switch format it properly
- Following that, I turn the Switch back on and the system recognizes the new card and shows tons of storage.
- I then turn off the Switch, wait a few minutes to be sure, then eject the new card.
- Then, plugged the new card into my computer, drag the save data on to the new card, let it download in full (~30gb), and wait another few minutes just to be safe.
- Safely ejected the card from my computer, put it into my Switch while it's still fully shut down, and turned the Switch on.
- Switch says it can't recognize the card and to either restart or re-format the card, which wipes the save data.
- I'll then either re-format the new card and try again, OR turn off the system, and re-insert the card. Neither seems to make a difference.
I've gone through the above process 3 times now, and can't get the Switch to recognize the new SD card once it has the old save data on it. I can't find anything about this on the Nintendo site. Again, if the new card is totally wiped, the Switch can access it no problem. Am I missing a step here? Thank you in advance!
