#Weird perfomance changes when docking switch

Whenever I want to play Tears of the Kingdom (or BOTW) on docked mode, it functions more or less how it supposed to. It doesn't look as good as youtube videos featuring the game, doesn't have that nice blur effect on further areas , and seems to be capped at 30fps. However, after playing for a very long time it sometimes suddenly, DRAMATICALLY improve the quality and seem to be running at 60fps with a high resolution although I can't say what resolution exactly.

I have a switch OLED and my father is audiophile so has installed a sound system on the tv, so the switch first passes by the amp and is in the "game" input. There are graphic options on the amp although I don't know how much exactly it will affect the visual output on the TV. The graphic improvement that sometimes occur doesn't chock me that much but the fact that the fps suddenly doubles really surprises me and I have no idea how that occurs.

Any thoughts on that? I would really like being able to constently run the game on the higher quality but it almost never happens. Thank you.

I'm not sure the amp is the issue though

#

Maybe I'll check tomorrow

#

Because isn't Zelda supposed to run at 30fps even docked?

Otherwise we can't say if you have an issue or not

Maybe the current setup somehow bypasses the 30fps capping sometimes?

#

Because other than that the game seems to run properly

You can't "create" more performance if it's already doing its best

Or maybe it's a smoothing effect that applies after a while that make it seem that there's more fps

Probably not but

¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'll try plugging the switch directly to the TV tomorrow and see what changes

Testing is paramount in the diagnosis process, good luck

it seems that going through the amp makes the game look sligthly better

#

it might be placebo though

#

no noticable change appart from that
