okay so it doesnt matter as long as its the same game?
Unless it's Pokemon, those games literally refuse to save to the cloud. A mate of mine had to restart his entire Violet playthrough because his original save wouldn't back up. He was using the same cartridge too.
Eshop game data doesn't usually save.
That's just cloud save data. Pokemon, Splatoon and Animal Crossing are special cases.
Save data stored on the internal memory will always be there unless you format your Switch.

um how do i check what version it is bc if i remember correctly it should say on the cover

Normally, the regional indicator is on the back of the cartridge box. Most of the time you can identify the market it was published on, the SKU number, and the languages it has.
Then you need to compare it to all known regional version to identify which region it was.
