usb c port broken? video output unreliable

Hi, when I connect my switch to my 3rd party dock the video output is unreliable.
the video cuts out every now and then, and I've narrowed it down to the connection between the switch and the cable of the dock.
If it cuts out I have to move the cable a little bit and it starts working again. Is my usb C port broken? Do I have to replace it?
(bare in mind my switch is not in a great state, bought it second hand and its full of scratches and has a slight bent)
(the dock I'm using is the hagibis switch dock.)

things I have tried:
A different switch on the 3rd party dock works, so does my phone.
cleaning the port.
the port doesn't look damaged.

(I'm asking for confirmation that my usb port is broken and making sure I've not overlooked something simple.)

Have you heard about the risk of bricking your Switch via 3rd party dock?

This one in particular maybe Ok-ish, I have seen people using it without any issues but...
These things have lower quality control, so any issues you encounter may give your Switch damage.

I do, that's why I looked at the ratings. this one had less 1 star reviews/ total reviews then the offical one. and looking through them manually it looks like this one has about the same failure rate as the official nintendo dock.

Do you still have the original dock?

You said these are the tests you have performed:

But what was the result of them? Other Switch also had the same problem?

No, I never owned an original dock. Other switch and my phone worked fine on the dock.

Was this Switch pre-owned when you bought it?

yes, and not well looked after. scratches on the screen and the entire console has a slight bent in it

I see. The chances for the USB port being damaged is high.

How did you clean the port?

first with wooden toothpicks trying to get stuff from the bottom of the port, after that I took some small cotton swabs and cleaned the contacts of the usb C port with isopropyl alcohol.
