It's not common. You should give it a more througout test by going into System Settings > Controllers and Sensors > Input test.
If it's new, you should just send it back for a return/exchange instead of trying to repair it on your own.
I think I have seen this happens before, but that was simply a problematic spring. This can also be from the actual electrical buttons under the plastic one.
It happens when I relax my finger a bit after pressing. The switch is still down, but causes the arrow to shoot. Same with shield, but that one is less sensetive.
I will go to my friend soon and test out his joycons too see if it's similair.
Sometimes that's the best solution. I'm glad it's just a simple defect.
