Can you try the steps below first?
🐵 MONKEY MAGIC METHOD 🐒
※ Important: Follow these steps in exact order
While you are doing the steps, check if there's any loose, damaged, improper placed cables. Take the chance to clean the jacks on the cable and the HDMI ports as well.
- Unplug all the cables (HDMI, AC Power Adapter) and remove the Switch from dock.
- Unplug the AC adapter from the wall socket.
- Turn off the TV/Monitor.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Connect your AC adapter cable to the dock.
- Connect your AC adapter to the wall outlet.
- Connect your HDMI cable to the dock.
- Connect your HDMI cable to the TV/Monitor.
- Dock your Switch.
- Turn on TV/Monitor.
yes ive tried this. The dock has a green light but there is no output to tv
ive noticed that the under part of the charging port has like something chipped on the right side
it charges fine tho, but could that be why it isnt outputting hdmi?
@woeful spruce
Haha now it's on the side
is this the problem?
Well I can't help now, gotta go. But I suggest cleaning it
CLEANING GUIDELINES
§ Cleaning is not only a way to maintain hygiene but can also help prolonging the life of your console. Be sure to turn off the Switch before cleaning. And wait for any excess liquid to dry before using it.
■ For daily cleaning: Nintendo recommends using a soft cloth (microfiber is best), dampen with a bit of water, wipe gently on the surface of the console. Avoid any abrasive cleaning cloth, random cleaning compound/liquid.
■ Air vents: Clean the air vents regularly will help maintaining good ventilation, prevent overheating. You should use a squeeze blower or compressed air can to blow at the vents from an angle before wiping them.
■ For a throughout cleaning/disinfection: Please use Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), commonly known as "rubbing alcohol" (but not to mistake with ethanol). IPA 70% is most suitable, you can dilute it with water if you can't find the exact %. IPA 90% or higher % may damage rubber/plastic due to its mild solvent property. Dampen on a microfiber cloth before wiping. Do not spray directly on the device. Use q-tips for small areas.
■ To clean electrical contacts in hard-to-reach areas: Please use specialize electrical contacts cleaner spray. Useful for electrical contacts on the rails, or fixing Joy-con's joystick drifting.
If that's the case, you need to send it to repair
HARDWARE REPAIR INFORMATION

[👉 Nintendo Repair Service](#986637761916317707 message)
Nintendo offers their own repair service for free within warranty period and with cost when warranty has expired. Joycon's repair are often free, regardless of warranty. Their service is often more reliable, with original replacement parts, but is more expensive.
[👉 Independent Repair Service](#986637761916317707 message)
A local, independent repair service may offer faster return time, cheaper and doesn't need warranty nor official support. Although finding a good local repair service needs some effort.
[👉 DIY Repair](#986637761916317707 message)
Requires skills, tools and experience, but DIY repair is always an option.
it charges fine. But could this be the reason why no hdmi?
USB port has several different pins, each take care of a function
So it can still change but cannot transmit data, for example
But you can't know that without diagnosing
in normal cases the side is normal, mine has a chip on the right side. So i suspect this is whats causing the hdmi issue
i will try my switch on my friends dock. If it doesnt work then surely this is the issue right?
Yes, that's something I would often recommend people to do as well, as a test method
if that doesnt work then this should be the issue right
i jus wanna play the new damn zelda game lmao
@woeful spruce
Yes, obviously
But again, let the repair service do a proper diagnosis
i dont live in america
I'm pretty sure I tried to cover as many regions as possible in the guide
hello
i tried it on my friends dock and it worked
so that means i need a new dock right, even if there is a green light
@woeful spruce
Hmm yes, but before that, try cleaning the USB jack on the dock
inside the dock itself?
with alcohol or what
ive just noticed that the docks green light goes off by itself after a minute @woeful spruce
That's just sleep mode
I thought I sent you a cleaning guide?
here it is again
