MICROSD CARD FORMAT AND TEST

§ To fix Error Code: 2016-0641, data corruption issue. For fixing microSD card not recognized, broken microSD card reader please use tag sdr

※ Note: microSD card only stores screenshots/video capture and games' install data. Save data is stored on the internal memory of the Switch.

■ How to properly format a microSD card to use on Switch console:
You will need a PC computer and a microSD card reader.
1. Use this software, SD Association's SD Memory Card Formatter, and format the microSD card using Overwrite option.
2. Format your microSD card again using your computer's Quick format feature. exFAT and FAT32 filesystem is preferred.
3. Put the microSD card into your Switch console and use the built-in function to format the card one more time.

■ If you suspect your microSD card is broken or fake/counterfeit, you can test using these software:
• Windows: H2Test (Read/Write speed test)
• Mac: Black Magic Disk Speed Test or F3XSwift

Yeah, I'm going to take a stab and say the card is simply rubbish. What card is it exactly?

Yeah just don't buy sd cards off of ebay in general. Most of the listings are scams like 1tb for £9 apparently 🙄

velvet tendon
#

I believe it's still possible, just need a lot more scrutiny when choosing who to buy from.

#

Nowadays, they are not that different from Amazon where stock mixing is a thing.

#

And refund/return policy on eBay is still pretty good, leaning toward benefit for buyers.

dapper osprey
#

If he wants a suggestion: Amazon has Sandisk Ultra 512gb cards sold and dispatched from Amazon for £38

#

He should get a refund on the other card from ebay and put the money towards something like that

velvet tendon
#

Hopefully he's still within refund period though

#

I just used it in my phone

#

works 100% fine in everything but switch

#

correct speeds to

steel bobcat
#

all 512gb wrote and it said it was legit

When it's in your phone, are you filling it up with data?

literally just my switch it doesn't like

#

works on 2 laptops and a phone

velvet tendon
steel bobcat
#

?

#

not working on the switch

#

and it always worked on everything else

velvet tendon
#

If it's not working then how exactly it doesn't work?

steel bobcat
#

exact same as before the download is paused or gets halfway through and then corrupted data was found / an error occoured

#

again around 30-70gb

#

I think it was 40 this time

velvet tendon
#

I see, that's what I wanted to hear.

#

You sure HW2Test didn't return any error?

#

You tested the whole card and not just stopping a bit?

#

Because what you described is something akin to fake microSD card, or at least, broken.

steel bobcat
#

will this one also take 2 daya

velvet tendon
#

No, it will just take a look at the card's info

dapper osprey
#

The fact it's corrupting when you put more data on it suggests it's fake or faulty. And either way you can't fix it. I'd simply get the refund if possible and get a proper card from a retailer like the one I mentioned. I've had 2 Sandisk Ultras myself from Amazon and I just let the Switch format it and bim bam bosh it's done.

#

I'm just gunna leave it in my phone

#

it works fine

#

and if not
