CLEANING GUIDELINES

§ Cleaning is not only a way to maintain hygiene but can also help prolonging the life of your console. Be sure to turn off the Switch before cleaning. And wait for any excess liquid to dry before using it.

â–  For daily cleaning: Nintendo recommends using a soft cloth (microfiber is best), dampen with a bit of water, wipe gently on the surface of the console. Avoid any abrasive cleaning cloth, random cleaning compound/liquid.

â–  Air vents: Clean the air vents regularly will help maintaining good ventilation, prevent overheating. You should use a squeeze blower or compressed air can to blow at the vents from an angle before wiping them.

â–  For a throughout cleaning/disinfection: Please use Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), commonly known as "rubbing alcohol" (but not to mistake with ethanol). IPA 70% is most suitable, you can dilute it with water if you can't find the exact %. IPA 90% or higher % may damage rubber/plastic due to its mild solvent property. Dampen on a microfiber cloth before wiping. Do not spray directly on the device. Use q-tips for small areas.

â–  To clean electrical contacts in hard-to-reach areas: Please use specialize electrical contacts cleaner spray. Useful for electrical contacts on the rails, or fixing Joy-con's joystick drifting.

Even IPA doesn't work, hmm

#

any stronger will ruin the shell

#

extremeRate?

#

Yeah, I meant, you can totally clean that out, but also will damage the shell

#

You sure it's dye?

#

The problem is if it's dye, then it's working as intended, dying the material

#

Very hard to get off but...

#

possible to do so using some strong chemical

#

Honestly I do not know how those chemical will interact with the soft touch finish of the extremeRate shell

#

You can try using bleach or ammonia but high chance it will damage the shell somewhat

#

i'd try all the milder alternative such as using more ipa, baking soda, vinegar, goo gone

#

But all of these carry a risk, so good luck

#

maybe its the colour fading off?
when I looked through amazon reviews for extremerate shells a few months back I found a lot of examples of the paint wearing down
Not sure if that's what's happening here

#

odd part was that all of the examples I found had a more tan look around the fading sections, so no clue

i dont mean fade as in "all of it comes off evenly," parts contacted the most obv rub off the most

(and yeah, no shit you can't "get it off" if its fade)

No, I guess what you meant by fades, but I don't think fades go to black.

#

And if it's fading, you can't "get it off", it's discoloration or wear of the original material.
