So I bought the Nintendo switch OLED and want to only use this one instead of my old Nintendo switch. On my old one I have games such as Pokémon let’s go eevee and fire emblem three houses that are downloaded. If I transfer my user ( which also transfers saved data ) will these two games be alright? Meaning I won’t have to start all over with them. Also what to do with screenshots and videos taken with it.

#

Also half of my games are on an sd card. Will they get transferred along with the user transfer?

SWITCH'S DATA ALLOCATION

・ All data, including games' install data (the game + DLC + Update), screenshots, gameplay capture videos, users' settings & save data are initially stored on the Switch's internal memory.

・ From the moment a microSD card is put into the Switch, all future games' install data, screenshots, gameplay capture videos will be stored into that microSD card. This will be applied to any other subsequent microSD card put into the Switch.

・ Past games' install data, screenshots, gameplay capture videos will not be automatically moved over to the newly inserted microSD card and will stay in the Switch's internal memory or previous microSD card. You can manually move them in System Settings ⚙️ > Data Management.

※ Important: Users' settings and Save Data will always remain on the Switch's internal memory and cannot be moved over to the microSD card.

・ In order to move data from one microSD card to another, type !tag sdt for a guide.

SAVE DATA AND YOU

※ Note: Save data is stored on the internal memory and not the microSD card.

How to transfer a profile's data - Copy an entire profile and its save data from Switch A then move it to Switch B, then delete the profile from Switch A.

How to transfer individual games' save data - Copy an individual game's save data to another Switch, then delete the save data from the original source.

How to download save data from cloud backup - Requires Nintendo Switch Online subscription. You can keep multiple copies of save data on multiple Switch consoles this way. Make sure to let them sync/update before playing.

○ Exception: Animal Crossing: New Horizon's save data is different and have unique backup and transfer process.

⚠︎ Warning: As of November 2021, there is a very common issue when transferring data from original Switch or Switch Lite to the new OLED model, often giving error 2216-5000 with the message "Unable to communicate with the other console." Solutions for this issue are as follow:
• Try connecting both Switch consoles to a different network and attempt the transfer again.
• Delete the Wifi network from both Switch consoles, reconnect them and do it again.
• Try changing the Wifi network from 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz or vice vesa.
• Initialize both Switch without deleting save data and do it again after. For details about this process, type !tag init

TRANSFER DATA ON MICROSD CARD

§ These are instructions on how to deal with data on microSD card, transferring them between different cards or between Switch consoles.

※ Note
● MicroSD card only contain screenshot/gameplay capture video and games' install data. Save data is stored on the Switch's internal memory and cannot be moved to microSD card.
● You can move data between the microSD card and the Switch's internal memory by going into System Setting ⚙️ > Data Management.

■ Transfer a microSD card to a different Switch
1. Make sure you have transferred the profiles that own games to the new Switch. Otherwise the console will not recognize the data. Type !tag save for more info.
2. Simply plug the old microSD card into the new Switch and check your content in System Setting ⚙️ > Data Management. Games' data and screenshot/gameplay capture should be present.

■ Transfer data between microSD card
You will need a device that can read and format microSD card. Either PC/MAC computer or smartphone/tablet.
1. Determine the File System of the old microSD card.
2. Format the new microSD card to the same File System.
3. Use the Switch to format the new microSD card one more time.
4. Copy and paste the files from the old microSD card over to the new one. Following the correct folder's location.
