#Joycon shell replacement fail!

Ah I saw your DM. Sorry I was sick these days, can't stay around too long.
I can't see very well what this is. Is the actual electrical switch for the R button?
If this person knows what they're saying I would assume it's the button that sends R signal to the joycon board (marked pink below) that fell out
Yeah, I was afraid it was the case. Since this is a rather dicey issue, I wanted to make sure.
Because unlike the L button, which is a modular board, the R button is soldered directly onto the board, making it hard to fix.
Soldering it back is one thing, if the pads are lift, it'd be even more annoying.
This method is only necessary if the pads are lifted or damaged somehow. If the pads are intact then you can just solder a new one on.
As for the drill bits, thanks for the recommendation. But I don't think all people need it. Normally this kind of equipment is available in hardware stores or local online retailers.
If you are still in the process of replacing the lcd and digitizer, it'll be a hundred times harder than the Joycon reshell. So be super careful, don't underestimate any steps, and good luck.
Those are called PCB pads. Nintendo doesn't really put any "load bearing" joints on that thing so it breaks waaaay too often every time you drop the joycon on that side.
Remember when I said not to underestimate the task? I know I keep repeating that but every darn time someone did that, they screwed up.
The cost of replacement is higher here. The entire console is more pricey than the joycon after all.
As in there is nothing taking the external force when it hits the R button
If you look at how it's built, any force hitting the R button from the outside will transfer right onto the soldering joints.
With certain parts, they would design around this problem. Such as the USB-C port, it actually has reinforced soldering joints on the sides.
Or like that L button, it's on a separate, modular board that can be replaced.
This is my friend's very recent attempt at replacing a lcd
Pushed the ribbon in too hard and broke the connector on the side of the board
Costed him $20 and a trip to the store just to get the switch back on with the old lcd
Just $20? Damn, we live it cheap here.
$20 to get everything back together again, including the old lcd
Replacing a new lcd at shops is around $70 last time i checked
Yeah, it's our advantage of living in a country with cheap labor haha.
