So I have an NSO Individual Membership and 2 profiles. When I want to play on profile #2 and use online features like trading, I’m promoted to connect an NSO account. Before completing the login, it says “this cannot be undone” But is it safe to do and switch back to profile #1 and not lose anything?

Do I need a Family membership to avoid this?

NINTENDO SWITCH ACCOUNT SYSTEM

On the Nintendo Switch console, the account system work with a combination between local profile and Nintendo.com account.

The local profile is the User account that you can create at the first time you boot up your Switch and any time after. This local user profile will be used to manage each player's save data and personal settings such as avatar.

The Nintendo.com account is registered using your own email address. And then you need to link your local user profile to this account. Doing so will enable several online features as well as the ability to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online service.

※ A user profile that has not linked to Nintendo.com account or child account can only use Nintendo Switch Online service through a Family plan, not individual plan.

After linking, the local user profile and Nintendo.com account will become one and cannot be unlinked. You can use the login info from the Nintendo.com account to login into any other Switch consoles and the data will be transferred over.

Essentially, profile is more or less a placeholder of a "user profile" until you link it to a Nintendo.com account. When you do that, the profile and account will become one forever and can use various online feature.

So with an individual membership, I can link my Nintendo account to user profiles #2,3,4…

So I’d need a family membership to link to more than one profile?
