Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes currently has an OPS+ of -14. This is the worst OPS+ by any position player with at least 100 at bats in 140 years, and the second worst ever

#

1883, a catcher named John Humphries had an OPS+ of -26 in 108 AB. Then Barnes. That’s it.

The only other position player to have a negative OPS+ in that many at bats in this century was Kevin Cash in 2003. And he was just -2.

#

For reference, in 179 at bats last year Barnes had a 96 OPS+. The drop off is shocking.

Why do you think the Dodgers haven't made this change? Certainly Clayton Kershaw's opinion can only go so far when Barnes' continued inclusion is having this much of an impact on the team. Even if Feduccia's numbers took a nosedive at the MLB level, a .210/.300/.375 performance with 3-4 HRs would still be a massive upgrade.

Also, if Barnes finishes the year on the MLB roster, and the Dodgers continue at current pace (.582 winning percentage), would he be in the running for worst hitter to get 200+ PA's on a 90+ win team?

They will tie the record(s) set by the 1969 Mets (1967 to 1969) by a 100+ loss team & 110+ loss team (1965 to 1969) who coincidentally defeated the dysnaty-esque Orioles who won 109 games in the World Series & went on to the next 2 World Series, winning 100+ each. In fairness however, that was an expansion team.

From the data I found, the previous records excluding the Mets are the 2017 Astros who also share the record by a 110+ loss team (2013 to 2017) & the 2016 Twins by a 100 to 109 loss team (2016 to 2019). All of this of course after becoming the first team in MLB History last year to finish with a winning record after losing 110+ the previous season.

From 2001 to 2010, 6 super bowl attendees won with a bye week of 6 or earlier, 4 out of 8 won with a bye week that is between 4 and 6 (still used in the nfl schedule today). from 2011 onwards, not a single fucking team won the super bowl if they had a bye week of 6 or earlier. Two week 7 teams won against another week 7 and week 5 team, that's it. a grand total of 4 teams attended the super bowl with a week 6 bye or lower since 2011. Teams listed for the 2023-24 season with a week 6 bye or earlier: Cleveland Browns, LA Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccs, Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers. Congrats, you've all been statistically eliminated from winning the Super Bowl this year. That is 6 out of 32 teams, 18.75% of the entire league that needs to pull off something not done in almost 15 years of the NFL, all because the NFL refuses to change its scheduling policy.

This season Gearge has one yes one extra base hit with runners in scoring position and is slg a pathetic .274 in those situations with a wrc plus of 77 (23 percent below league average)
