Never expected this to happen again in my lifetime, especially after a historic piss-poor showing against LA in the 2022 season (seriously, there's zero excuse for going 4-15 against your biggest rivals, especially right after a painful postseason elimination).

The last time the Giants swept at Dodger Stadium, Buster Posey was on his MVP and batting champion campaign. It was also the last season the Dodgers missed the playoffs. The Giants defeated Kershaw alongside other Dodger legends in Joe Blanton and Chris Capuano.

I still wish the Giants defeated LA in the 2021 postseason, nothing short of a victorious rematch will remove that sting. In the meantime, however, this is a nice W to have. The Giants still have a lot of issues to sort out but it's nice to see the team gel again, especially after a 2022 season where the team felt a bit lost.

On a final note, the Giants also improve to 5-1 in games Logan Webb starts at Dodger Stadium.

Free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins visited with the New England Patriots on Thursday and, barring an unexpected turn, both sides are now expected to take some time to assess their next steps, according to a source familiar with the visit.

Hopkins, 31, has not been in a rush to sign with a team and has considered waiting until closer to training camp in late July to make a move, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Hopkins' visit Thursday started early in the morning and went well into the afternoon, a source told Fowler, adding Hopkins appeared intrigued by the possibility of playing for New England and coach Bill Belichick. Whether that results in a deal now or in the future remains unclear.

There are a lot of factors at play here that could explain this: the Farhan era, the shortened fences, the rise of some new faces, the ghost runner, the pitch clock, etc. Overall, while I would never trade away the previous decade (well, the first half of it at least), it is refreshing to see a consistent long ball game again, especially in the clutch. This is something I felt we were sorely missing in the late 2010s (and even the early 2010s to a degree, although the pitching staff and clutch contact hitting more than made up for it).
