His dad, Coleridge Bernard III is currently serving 38-year sentence at Folsom State Prison, this made his childhood quite difficult, it's pretty impressive on what he has overcome in his life. He did not talk to his dad throughout his teenage years but their relationship was resumed when he got to Ohio State. He often talks to his dad on the phone after games.

Coleridge did not have any silver spoon QB coach growing up and did not have much game film, thus he did not receive any scholarship offers until after his junior season, his first offer was from Colorado.

Teammates have given rave reviews of Coleridge in the pre-draft process, he was named a team captain in 2022 and is described as “reserved and confident” and one of the “funniest” players on the team.
