Why do players using town hall targeting siege machine (LIke wall wrecker and log launcher) drop the siege from the for very far away form the Town Hall

In the case of LL, it keeps it safer from splash defenses and being targeted by other defenses, allowing it to fire more logs and deal more damage overall. For Blimp, you want to avoid SAMs, Tornadoes and Sweepers with your placement, but WW isn't really used in optimal play, as it's outclassed by LL. You'd probably want to tank it as well, however.
