Hello, im awaiting the paint colours arriving. but after a little more digging i dont think its gonna work. Ive been trying to find a strong viberant purple colour. only seen it in types of paint that doesnt suit. im only just discovering that it may be the norm where i need to mix two colours together. or layer two different purples on top of each other, is that right? one thing i know for sure is painting a white base coat underneith should hopfully brighten it up enough. but i fear it may still need a tinny bit more red to it for that classic genuine viberant purple. any suggestions or ideas? maybe someone thats been through the same too. the paint colours i have on the way are Vallejo 72.015 Hexed Lichen and Vallejo 72.076 Alien Purple. the hexed lichen looks like the purple i want but a darker shade of it. im hoping the white under it would be enough. im so new to this so its all guessing with what to buy atm. the purple in the picture is what ii want to go for, either that or even a tinny tad more on the indigo side is nice to. i bounce between vibrant indigo and violet. but never tried to produce my favourite colours on model painting before. and dont even get me started on my love for cartoon golds and golds to complement the purple. thankfully the golds have seemed less complicated

Secondly, learning to read a colour is a skill that you can develop over time.

Hexed Lichen is probably a good starting point then play with adding some blue or red to see if you get closer to what you want.

I would definitely not worry about perfectly colour matching in this hobby unless you’re going for a very specific historical recreation or something.

ahh right I see! yeah your right. I think I'm just in massive overthinking mode as I'm eagerly awaiting the paint colours arriving in the post/mail. I ordered magenta to test adding a tinny more red/pink hue to the Hexed. but ill defiantly go for it and get a towards red/purple hue blue as well in case i need it in the other direction maybe a ultramarine blue or something. thank you for your help!

No worries. Easy to overthink this hobby. Best thing you can do for yourself is just put paint on models and experiment.
